Happy for the loser point, but completely disappointed with the loss in OT.

It was 3 - 1, thanks to Matthews. When will our Leafs be able to consistently step on the throats of the opposition and close down a game when they take a 2 goal lead ??? No killer instinct with this team whatsoever.

Other teams have 8 or 9 game winning streaks, but our Leafs can't even make it to 5 in a row.

Was Nylander even interested in playing, AND COMPETING tonight? He looked to me like he's already started taking games off after scoring his HUGE contract for next season.

Will our Leafs EVER get any goal support from Bertuzzi and Domi ??? If they don't start scoring, they're not WORTH their current contract values IMHO.

Tavares deserves a better fate when playing back on the island. His teammates are letting him down. He didn't help himself much either tonight.

On to the next game !!!

Go Leafs Go !!!

I thought Bertuzzi was supposed to be a gifted goal scorer. He never looks dangerous for the Leafs and has messed up many scoring chances. Just a frustrating player because the talent is there for so much more.

We may be fortunate where his poor offensive numbers keep him at a low AAV on his next deal, and in the following years he bounces back offensively and we have a 2LW for relatively cheap.

10G in 50 games last year. 6 in 39 now. Do we want to take that chance? Guess it depends on how low that AAV is.

I like Jake McCabe but I’m not sure why he’s out there with Matthews and Marner.

Regardless, one of those games that never felt like we were going to win.

When the Isles made it 3-2 it felt like the Leafs wouldn’t be able to run away with it. Which by default means you’re in a slog with the Islanders and playing the ugly way they want.

The blueline felt pretty cheap tonight. Gio is really showing his age and I think trying to squeeze more out of McCabe is going to be an adventure. He’s been pretty good to date but the more you push I think the more you expose his hockey sense and probably bad team pedigree a bit.

Wasted some Matthews goals, absolutely filthy little tucks on Sorokin. Tavares and Nylander were really bad.

Facing a more competitive team and the Leafs' regress to their issues.

Something something goldilocks team. Leafs get up for the big matchups and they seem to be finding their rhythm against the bad ones. But you find a scrappy team right in the middle they have to learn their lessons all over again.

did anyone see nylander JT or bert do jack f***ing shit? Or marner?

Keefe is a moron for putting in mccabe hes got the lowest IQ of our entire d corps.

Also for the love of god put in lagesson for Gio dude is old as f*** and makes way to many shit plays and reads and he cost us this game.
Willy set up JT three or four times, and actually led the team in shots. And believe it or not, had a hit!

But that second line has been brutal ever since they moved Willy up to get Matty going. Since Dec 1, at ES, Willy has 7 goals and 10 assists, while JT has 2 and 8, and Bert has 1 and 7.

Matthews was the best player on the ice tonight by a mile.
Best Leaf certainly. Barzal made it close.

Seven years of rebuild and we got the offence down pact. Another seven and the defence will be ready. Then another seven and maybe the goalie will be down pact too.

Dubas did say that he didn't consider hiring Trotz, Cassidy, DeBoer, or Maurice because Keefe would be on their level in 15 years, so maybe you're right.

My question is who was booing Tavares - Isles fans or Leafs fans?
Isles fans. Many of them are still upset that he decided to leave as a free agent. Earlier in the year he wanted to stay, but they fired the coach and GM and Tavares decided he would look elsewhere.

Because he's playing every night right now, the "#1 goalie " and is going to be for at least another month.

Jones by default is the #1 because the #1 is hurt and Samsonov has made himself simply a non option.

He's been solid overall but he's not above criticism.

Tonight he blew it, it's that simple he sucked

Friend, at the end of the day every regular poster on this Leaf forum knows you have a dim opinion of the Leaf’s goaltending situation. Your opinions have been expressed consistently, clearly, and ad naseum. We get it. Of course you have the right to express your opinion, but unless you think you are a poor communicator, which I would not agree with, please consider adding to the discussions by saying something new. We don’t need to read the same thing time and again, it’s tedious. I’m not trying to insult you, I’m just letting you know you’ve made your point. Cheers.

Reinhart is only 3 goals behind Matthews for the league lead. It shocked me with how hot Matthews has been. Surely that's worth 11.5 million per year.
Maybe, he is a pending free agent, but he is usually more of a 20-30 goal score than a 40+ goal score, but if the player and team bases it on this year then sure. If he chooses free agency, he also might get that amount.

Not catching Boston or Florida. Be lucky to hold off Tampa and Detroit with our brutal schedule coming up.
The team is 7 points behind Boston, and 6 points behind Florida with 2 games in hand- they should at least attempt to catch them. Look in front of them rather than behind.
