The #1 goalie is the guy that's playing every night.

For better or worse that is Jones right now and tonight he blew it.

And make no mistake HE blew it nobody else.

This game is on HIM
Is this a schtick? I know that you know that Martin Jones is not the number one goalie for this team. It's even goofier than that - it's a guy with less NHL games that Martin Jones has played in a single season. But that is the reality of it, so what is the point of crapping on Jones for being the best third string goalie in the league?

Tavares is on pace for 17 even strength goals this season. That is simply unacceptable for your 11mil 2nd line centre.

Tied with rookie Knies and behind the juggernaut Calle Jarnkrok.
On pace and reality are two different things. He's not been that great in the first half, but things have a way of evening out over the course of a full season.

Because he's playing every night right now, the "#1 goalie " and is going to be for at least another month.

Jones by default is the #1 because the #1 is hurt and Samsonov has made himself simply a non option.

He's been solid overall but he's not above criticism.

Tonight he blew it, it's that simple he sucked

Great game by the 4th line. You can tell right from the start that the top 3 lines didn’t have the energy they did the past 4 games. Meh games by Nylander and Marner.

Too many errors in our zone and once again you can see why we need at least another defenceman. Gio and Brodie are done, Lily not his best, and McCabe had a brain dead OT.

Refs, only one Pp for us and three for them? I guess game management is put aside for Leafs games against lesser opponents who hook and grab to catch us.

Jones had a mediocre game but made enough saves to allow us to win.

NYI fans need to get over losing Tavares and Tavares needs to grow some balls and not have the yips when playing on Long Island.

A second straight 4-3 overtime loss on Long Island. Not happy about another blown multi-goal lead, but the Islanders play the Leafs as tight as anyone and Toronto really struggles to hold leads against that 60 minutes pressure style of compete.

Overall, not terribly unhappy with the outcome with the exception of that inexplicable grenade in overtime from McCabe. Why in the world would you do that when you just got a quick change of possession?

Points in 5 straight though, so on to Colorado!
With marner wide open bangin the ice for the pucc you send it to Matthews with two guys on him

This team has no killer instinct at all. A lead means they're going to take their foot off the gas and coast.

It's been a huge problem for many years.

McCabe - if you are going to ice the puck like a complete moron in OT, the least you can do is defend off the resulting draw.
It really doesn't happen all that often, and no more than any other team.

They allowed two ppg and NYI scored on their first sog in overtime so Im not sure you can lay tonights loss on JT. I think most would agree he was only close to an $11M player his first year but that is what KD bought and the Dube isnt around to blame any more. They do need more than Rielly to put out in OT for the D. Its not McCabe's fault he isnt a top pairing guy.
