I'm starting to think his wedding and all the planning and events leading up to it threw off his usual off-season routine and his game is suffering for it. Not saying he shouldn't have gotten married or anything like that, but it's hard to deny he's off his mojo right now.

Knies needs to be on Tavares’ line. They both play a similar possession style and Knies can be the puck hound on it.

Drop Marner on to their RW and he will find both guys in great positions around the net, where they are both effective.

If Keefe ever grew a pair and stopped kowtowing to M&M, we could actually get players delivering on their capabilities, inside of bros looking for Dude Perfect moments together….

Wasn’t verbatim but yes. And I watch nearly all Leaf games. They seem upset when they lose the puck. They transition up like they are on a mission but don’t transition back with the same effort.
I find that especially true of AM he gets credited with great defensive play but he tends to stay high in the zone, steals a few passes and looks studly but he belongs down low helping the D. How much sustained pressure does it lead to? That gets blamed on the D?
If Chicago figured it out and with minimal talent could take advantage I’m sure others will exploit it until a correction is made.

I think it's because Mitch being so off his game personally. There is a lot to scratch your head about with Mitch Marners game right now. He is also a lot slower it seems. Maybe it's me though but he seems slower.

You are right, Marner is not the player he once was. Perhaps this is impacting Matthews as Marner is his winger. Who knows… but hopefully they both snap out of it.

Knies needs to work on his stick handling

He plays like a third line grinder, not a skilled forward



This would be a much better fit

Knies is a PWF/grinder build as a prospect more so than a skilled player

His stick handling, puck decisions, passing will improve with time

He is a guy who uses his body well, skates strongly for his size, good shooter when shots there

Tom Wilson, Wayne Simmonds, Chris Kunitz, David Backes, all those guys took a bit of time before becoming impact 60+ (in liw scoring environment) top line complementary forwards who helped their teams quite a bit

He will get better as he ages and becomes more used to the NHL. He is a good 3rd liner as a rookie which is pretty good for a 21 year old

I think we’re getting real close to a new coach. If we lose tomorrow to Dubas’ Penguins that could very well spell the end.

There are lots of issues but only a few things we can actually change. Keefe is top of the list.

Yep I say the same things on another forum and get ragged on by some who think everything is fine. Same rinse and repeat s**t every year. M&M show up in spurts and for the money they make that's unacceptable. No accountability but we saw what happened last year when Mitchy was benched. Tired of the coddling of our stars. Matthews soon to be the highest paid player and for me way too many nights off.

It's an OT loss but we have won plenty of games recently, our bottom 6 is starting to look dangerous and doing that trip to Sweden in season is a tough ask

Need to split up Marner from Matthews. I like the second line as is so I wouldn't mind putting Jarny with Knies and Matthews. Makes Matthews actually have to play to his capabilities. Marner and Domi had chemistry in the OHL and Robertson can let it rip.
