Leafs' Bettman record: 10.5.3 for 23 points. Leafs Clarence Campbell record: 5.5.8 for 18 points. The eye test says they have been a .500 team.
Replying to my own post here for a reason. The 5 RW speaks for itself. What does the 8 ties say? No lead is safe and no deficit is insurmountable? Any thoughts on this?

Points shmoints I really liked what I saw outside of Samsonov; bounces wern't good enough for 2 points. Nylander came as close as possible to an 18 game season openening point streak lol

Standout game for Robertson, that was his best NHL career game to date.

I think the biggest problem with the Matthews line is their predictability.

So much of the time if Knies has the puck he's looking to pass to one or the other; if Matthews has the puck he's either shooting or looking for Mitch; if Marner has the puck he's looking for Matty.

With the Tavares line, Tavares is usually shooting, but Bertuzzi may be shooting or passing to either; and Nylander may be shooting, passing to either or the D, or just keeping the puck until an option appears.

I think Matty has a better chance of getting the puck in a good spot when that's not the only likely play. Putting Willy with him gives the opposing players much more to worry about.

All in all, no real damage today. Boston and Florida lost, so only Tampa gained ground and they aren't a threat anymore. Detroit got two points, but no issue there since they took them from Boston. Ottawa and Buffalo continuing to do their best impressions of Ottawa and Buffalo.

Luke Richardson said postgame that top 6’s usually match up but with the injuries he went with the Dickinson line vs AM & MM. and told them pregame that both often sulk getting back into coverage when they lose the puck. Play transition with speed and you should get opportunities.
He was spot on.

Also said he told the team to be more physical than they have been. That Toronto doesn’t handle physicality well.
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Can we get one of those, please! A coach who knows how to prepare a team?

They lost to a lottery team, who didn't have Hall or Perry, yet managed to stop Nylander's point streak, and take 4/4 points.

Some of you think the Leafs are contenders.

Some of you are going to be awfully disappointed, again.

With this fan base and their ridiculous love for Willys hair? No. I don't think the core issues with this team have sunk in yet.
Most people like him for his play…not every player is a 40+G PPG winger. Him going off this start of the season has people showing more love. He does have nice hair though :)

You don’t think the core will work, I have my own doubts. I’ve made it clear that I’m open to trading any of the core 4 for the right price, but not every post has to be sagging on how we may or may not allocate some of our cap space to him.
Even if we sign him to the extra 3.5-4 million. That should be covered by Tavares’s extension, then Brodie should resign for >3 million for a bottom pairing role. We have some trade chips we could leverage if need be to acquire a good dman, but this is the main concern of mine. I don’t think we have a defence built like Vegas’s or Colorado’s. We need to grab a muzzin 2.0 in terms of play and handedness through a trade, and a top 4 RHD through FA.

As for goaltending, it’s a crapshoot. Yea you have your vasi’s, but then you have the adin hill’s and Darcy kuemper’s who just got to play behind solid defencemen. If we can build a solid defence, then it’s only a matter of getting the right goalie behind them.

Moreover, people overestimate what he will get in a trade, he isn’t an RFA, he’s an upcoming UFA so he’s gonna get the price of a rental, which won’t be much. Sign and trade is unlikely.

So while there are concerns, going on and on about his potential signing while he is still part of the team seems a bit, pessimistic? Idk the word exactly but it’s like being a Debby downer

And why don’t I see any jokes on Marner scoring only at home? With Kadri there were tons of “scoring” jokes after his wedding. Double standards are showing their ugly head. Kadri got his cup, not sure mitch will even sniff one.
Alright, since you asked nicely:

What's the difference between a job and a wife?

After marriage, the job still s*cks.

Defense was bad. The goaltending was ridiculous. The only way we can fix this is to obviously sign Willy to whatever he wants.
He hit three posts tonight, all on the same shot. Obviously washed up.

I mean, if you can't string together at least an 18 game point streak, you're not worth more than $4-5M.

If you are going to demand the salary of two good players, you better be worth the equivalent of 2 good players.

So if we now have to sign a shitty defenseman instead of one worth 4-5 mil...and our defense sucks now as a result...yes. You have to outscore the shitty defense we now have.

I'm not sure if that's a non sequitur or if you just missed the sarcasm.
It means if you wanna get paid 11 mil, you are doing real damage to the make up of your team which means you are not allowed to hit posts.

After tomorrow we don't play another back to back till December 11th and 12th. Have a four day break in between too. Not exactly a heavy schedule. Should probably just roll with Woll the next 6 games.

If bitch marner demands a single penny above what he makes right now, you let his useless slack jawed ass walk if need be.

He can go get his double digit IQ brain in shambles on another team. Waste of 11 million in cap space
Careful a common sense post will get you on the almighty ones ignore list lol

Leafs seem to run into it with the most hometown players putting up goals, not many teams can say the same. Everyone knows this team isn't winning anything. We're waiting until the cap goes up and the Tavares money comes off the books.

You are spot on.

Whenever MM is not at his best, he overthinks which lead to tunnel vision of AM. AM tends to flow when he is struggling and just waiting for MM to do his thing.
That’s why being on the 3rd wheel is tough unless you crash the net like crazy and bang in rebounds.
Bert and JT are shoot first player while Willie is unpredictable.
I really don’t think Willie can do well with AM but Calle and Knies will.
Which then you drop MM with JT and Bert.
Have Willie be the alpha with Domi and Robbie.

I think willie with bert and matty is the go and put knies on the second line with jt and marner where he can feature his shot more on a line with Matthew he’s rarely getting the pucc in spots to score and his shooting percentage is crazy
