I honestly don’t even care if Matthews gets traded after this season, after refusing to sign a contract extension in Toronto. Just get it over with at this point and get him out of here, it is inevitable

Kind of funny we hear that Sandin needs to replace Rielly on PP1, and the PP slumps when Rielly is out.
Not criticizing Sandin, but Rielly is needed on that unit even if it's tough to see at times

Agreed but when Malgin and Simmonds are your other forwards....f*** man the depth on this team is lacking now. I don't know if there's anyone else down in the A we can bring up but Simmonds legs are gone, that was obvious tonight.

Malgin would not have had an impact against a heavy Tampa team. Who do they turn to? I don't know. The team needs some proper muscle and depth in the bottom 6.

Malgin would've fared much better than Simmonds. The latter brings nothing to the table at this point.

The play was moving pretty fast when Robertson got called for the icing on the last minute breakout so I didn't see how much he was short of the red line. But it's little details like that that keep him yo-yo'ing in and out of the lineup.

maybe time to try the 4th line in OT instead, the record is already bad. it's no harm to not trying it. how worst can it be with core 4 kept making turnover in OT.
Might as well start 3 defensemen, as the forwards have no clue how to play 3on3!!!

It was no different than anyone else. It’s the “call the rookie” not the vet thing.

So I'm watching out west, was a little behind and the station i had it recorded on switched to the Canucks game before the OT starts. Who makes these idiotic decisions?

For someone who doesn't care, you do seem to daydream about it happening on a regular basis.

That lack of burning urgency to really take the play to the opposition is kind of the heart of their lack of killer instinct isn't it? It's a 3 on 3 free skate and you're retreating to the safety of your own goal line, and you think the idea of an attack is multiple drop passes.

It's perplexing...yep, drive the net and make the other team stop you...maybe you score, maybe you get a call, or a penalty shot, or make their goalie pay, but constantly passing it back and forth and retreating is not the key to success...I know not everyone is McDavid who could split the wind, but aren't they taught from a young age that good things happen when you go to the net?

You'd think the Leafs would just try to go to the net in a hurry for once.

Hard fought game, lots of emotions and back and forth. But you can't lose these and tell me you've grown. Growth is scoring on the PP to make it 3-1, close it out, beat down Kucherov and take some healthy runs at Vasi. That's growth.
I don't disagree with you, but you saw the refereeing tonight what do you think would happen if the Leafs really brought it and played big boy hockey?

Congrats Marner, keep it rolling. Yeah as everyone has stated we backpass way too much. Exciting game though, just a bad OT.

Burn the boats! Go track meet it up and if the team scores on the counter rush so be it. At least you forced them to make a save. Not a weak drop pass, come on.
