Looks like everyone can agree, they didn't deserve no point there.

Call was bullshit but honestly it don't make a difference.

I dont know how these guys can play like they did all game and in the last 15mins legit make it looks like nhl vs beer league and not have a clue... like come on lol

I dont normally through holl under the bus but wtf was that????

That was pretty much the worst call I've seen. Aside from that, it was disappointing to see our team struggling vs a team that was getting smoked by two other Eastern Conference playoff teams.

The faith in president, GM, coach, and the top players is in vain. The fact i am thinking to myself it might be better to trade Matthews now is a testament to how terrible of a job the management and coaches have done with this team.

Is the rule touch or control? I’m actually not sure on the hand pass, but there are several rules that require the opposite team to control the puck rather than just touch it.

The rule says possession but it literally doesn't matter, you can guarantee they will call the Arizona skate kick a possession change when it suits them, they make it up as they go.

I mean when 2/3 of your leadership is goofy teenager body Mitchell Marner and your captain is shy introvert Tavares... what do you expect?

Fire Keefe, give Matthew's a C.... and go from there. I'd trade Marner too but nobody should be surprised of that.

There personalities are enough to tell you this group isn't winning a cup.

This team needs something big to happen.... they aren't going to just magically change one day without a significant reason.

That was actually a disgusting game from Holl. Finally plays a solid game and follows it up with a massacre. How predictable was that whiff.

On the bright side, we're one step closer to this year's pipe dream reclamation project being over in Malgin. Who would have thought he'd vanish after pre-season against AHL teams? At least Robertson got his annual yo-yo in.

4 games in, some good, a lot of bad. Mostly confirming what I expected - soft perimeter team with an aging, slow D core.

There is not much value in Holl. Maybe he gets you a 5th. He’s more valuable to the Leafs being a bottom pair that they can rotate in and out. They just insist on using him as a top 4 and that’s the problem.
No, he sucks.
He just sucks less when he is on the ice less in a third pairing.
He needs to be traded or waived.

I know the popular take away is that the Leafs didn’t deserve to win tonight, but frankly that’s horseshit. They didn’t play anywhere close to their potential and deserve criticism for their effort, but despite that fact they were still on par with or better than the Coyotes virtually the entire night. The only reason this game was close was mediocre goaltending. And then, when the Leafs deciding to fully engage they basically flipped the game inside 10 mins only to be called on a ridiculously chincy penalty call with 2 mins left, and then after we tie yet again, they called it back on some seriously suspect work by the situation room.

Just because a team doesn’t give full effort doesn’t immediately mean they deserved to lose. The Leafs deserved this game.

But yeah, the effort through 40 was unacceptable

The reason the game was close is because the team failed to score more than 2 goals against an AHL level team. Flogging the third string goalie is not legitimate when your 60 goal man is held pointless.

They might get the rule wrong in the future, but if they got it right tonight, there’s nothing to complain about.

I honestly just laugh at the gross incompetence at this point. I’m nowhere near into this sport as much as I used to be, and a big reason is where the game is going with all this video review. NHL has just gone too far here.

The bad.

Muzzin neck injury... I guess we'll likely get some LTIR out of that... but umm... ya.
Holl on the ice for the first three goals. In varying degrees each of the goals were his fault.
Reilly was on the ice for two goals against.
Jarnkrok - what a poorly timed penalty... it was just stupid, to slash someones stick like that in the offensive zone... dumb, dumb, dumb.

The first two periods. Dominated, but lack that killer instinct to fight through tougher park the bus defenses.

Kallgren ends up with a 0.833... but this really wasn't on him.

That call back on the goal was BS, but then I don't think the team really deserved the win anyway. Great offensive players, but they still seem to lack that will to win... it's been the same story for some time, and a big reason why we lose in the playoffs.

Nothing I said is wrong. I’m not giving anyone a pass for what we just witnessed. We all should expect a lot better. The fact remains though, this team at 40% is better than Arizona and not giving full effort doesn’t immediately mean you deserve to lose. The body of work in the game clearly says we were the better team by and large

I don't get why everyone is so mad. Leafs absolutely dominated them in the 1st and 3rd period.

Shot Attempts were probably 60-25 by the end of the game
Actual shots didn't reflect that but SOG can be deceiving, but we still outshot them 3:2
60% on faceoffs
PP was 1/5, it can't be 50% every night.
PK wasn't good - fine
It took a real iffy reversal to prevent us from getting a point.
Would love to see the OZone Possession Time comparison between the two teams. I suspect the Leafs absolutely dominated that.

If you play that game 10 times Leafs will probably 7 of 10. Tough loss, look for some of the positives and move on.
