Okay, that's one game. Again, how does that discount what he did for the games he played prior?

Thornton signed here to play with Matthews and Marner. He's not getting taken off for one bad game.
What did he do games prior? I know he was beneficiary of playing with Marner and Matthews and didn’t look as awful. He’s still too old to be playing.

This should be their bounce-back game. Do you think they can win the Jets if they play like this?
If teams choke up the passing lane, leafs' top-line players are helpless.
And despite the outcome, they looked like the better team tonight. The PK is still mediocre and Andersen was the shittier goalie yet again. Nothing more, let alone new.

Remember that shift at the end of the first where where the Canucks were hemmed into their zone for about two minutes? Somehow we lost that game. Just a weird one but honestly the Csnuck’s worked hard and again were rewarded. I’d blame Anderson but he stopped Boeser at point blank and also a breakaway with Sutter.

According to the organization Matthews has been dealing with an injured wrist all season, so if we believe that, this drop off in play is not really an excuse. They may have been spreading disinformation because they didn't want to emphasize the Rasmus Andersson hit/board collision. But at the same time, he can be just slow to return to form from an injury and lay off.

Perhaps.. and yes, I am aware of what was said about him... needless to say, he is playing hurt. He doesn't have that JAM! to him the last couple of games, where it always looks like he has a magnet puck on his magnet stick blade, his hands are not there, his wrist is hurt for sure.. clearly obvious... hopefully he can get that back to 100% soon... even if it takes resting him 'we did just fine without him in Edmonton' as a matter of fact, the team played their best hockey of the season in that three game series!

Can't say enough about the effort Hyman has been playing with lately. He's been awesome in that department.

With that said, it's shame he's not more skilled around the net. He gets himself some awesome opportunities (as does Mikheyev) but both really struggle to finish at times... Hyman could have had about 6 goals in the last 3 games if he just had better goal scoring acumen.

He's a beauty though. Love the heart he plays with.

Too much over reaction here fellas. When this team wants to play hockey they will beat anybody hands down. Did the Edmonton series not prove that? That was the best 3 consecutive games this core has ever played against a dangerous opponent. This lull happens to all teams. When they get going again you'll see. I'm not worried at all, When they turn it up watch out.

Willy and Hyman were the best Leafs tonight bar none.

I don’t discount the fact that Willy had a good game. In my mind, he just cannot take that penalty in the way it happened. In a tight game, he has to make the play even if it means getting hit. I can’t stand the rule, but it is what it is. Just my perspective.

I agree about Hyman and think JT had a pretty good game as well. Would have liked more from our first line.

Mitch definitely deserves more flak than Nylander tonight. Nylander took the puck over glass penalty but Mitch had two awful giveaways that led to goals three and four against. That can't happen.

Thornton doesn't look injured to me, he looks 41 years old trying to keep up with players half his age. The games are adding up and jumbo is fading. A serious cup contender doesn't have him weighing down their first line.

He shouldn't be playing any higher up the lineup than Spezza.

Well I respectfully disagree, he was playing hockey in another country all summer when NHL players we're not.. but maybe you're right, hell, I am the same age as Joe, and live where he was born... I still think he's not 100% though, just my observations, and as all of us on here, we can only spectate, we don't know the real truth, only staff does.

They must be having their problems as well. Losing 7-1 against the Habs

PK was atrocious and has been quite a bit this season. Something needs to be done.

And for the love of god can we please stop the damn pathetic useless drop/no look passes. Everybody out there thinking they're Crosby or McDavid. There's so much talent on this team, just work the puck around for a good shot. Not every goal has to reach the highlight reel level.

Last 2 games of a long road trip and a busy schedule, perfect time to get the old guy up in the lineup. Keefe may be getting brain damage.
At least Spezza and Vesey got lots of rest on the bench, all they were doing was scoring.

So I've watched that 3-2 goal like 5 times and I still don't understand what Rielly is doing there. He literally doesn't even try to look to see where the puck is? He just kinda coasts and keeps staring at the boards like he thinks the first shot went in or something.

Agreed, a lot of 'cuteness' lately, and it's biting them in the ass as of late!

They need some saves on the PK. That tip on the second PP was their only opportunity and it wasn't even sustained pressure

We didn’t respect our opponent the last two games and you can’t do that ....
We have to learn that lesson , I’m very disappointed, I truly am as I thought we learned that lesson about playing hard every shift every game and not thinking that talent will overcome lazy at a turn of a switch ...
I got to say ,, this is why great teams like Tampa and Boston and Washington are great in the playoffs , they understand that concept
Really disappointed ladies and gentlemen
And please go get a real solid top 6 or 2 even scoring younger tougher player
I love jumbo , really do but I’m not convinced that he’s the answer in tough games and playoffs ???
He’s more for softer games and not all games and on the PP
We need one more Hyman ( Left ) with a touch and meaner and 1 top flight left winger and 1 addition of mean experienced DMan
Need left winger with talent or jam to go get the puck in the corners
and I’m sorry to get back to this but please trade Kerfoot and sorry to say one other on the team and give up some prospects and draft picks , we need to take advantage of the possibilities this year and also it’s a buyers market this year as most teams need to sell off to get rid of debt
Hall
Kane
Other ??
Go leafs go
