Teams should also be picking up on the fact that if you draw us in the playoffs, make sure to turn the temp up in the building and get the ice as bad as you can get away with. You'll score off bad bounces while we struggle to complete a 5 foot pass.

I think the top line hit double digits in falls without contact today.
That's the strategy at Scotiabank also.

For as much as I, and others, were on JT and Willy during their slumps they were still playing solid defensively.

Marner's always been this oddity where he's got huge creativity, but not always high IQ.

It's situational IQ. Both he and Rielly have none. Like that play on the 4th goal against was actually dumb... in no situation would anyone make that play, let alone in that situational moment of the game.

I thought it was a pathetic effort, not so much in working hard, but mentally... they were working hard doing nothing.

I'm still not completely over it.

Honestly, I don't even remember when I starting posting here (was right around the great lockout) but it's always been the same. I do understand it though, we've had some incredible ups and downs (moreso the downs sadly) over my time here

I think I started in 02, but there might have been a board reset in 04. Someone needs to use the wayback machine to dig up those Leetch trade threads because they sure were something. Very fun Leaf though. Racked points up.

Freddy unfortunately is a very bad PK goalie. You need your goaltender to be your best PKer.
He's also bad on shootouts, has been getting injured quite a bit recently, makes $5M, has perceived trade value.

I'm a big fan of Campbell as a person but even I don't think he's a great goalie and yet...

The current board format came in 2002, before then I think we had the old drop down threads. Still remember those on the computer in my high school library!

You must be new, we're always like this

I'm definitely not new. Why I find it funny recently is because of the fragility and insecurity of this fan base, due to the let downs of previous years. Even the slightest hiccup in the season has some people losing their minds.

Demko was ridiculous in both those games. Toronto missed a bunch of open nets and failed to bury chances they usually do. The Leafs shot far too many pucks into Demko's chest, or missed high over the net one good scoring chances. The goaltending was basically the same goaltending we always get... Sometimes games don't fall in your favour. This team is wayyyyyyy too flawed to be get upset over a couple bad stretches this year. We were always going to lose games.

I thought the bottom six and blueline mostly did their job, but there was definitely a massive drop off in quality of play from the first line. Walking wounded or just struggling. As far as the goaltending, it wasn't the reason we lost but Andersen is a very beatable goalie. Losses like this happen.

A bit more ticked they couldn’t muster a point out of this game but the GWG was off of a flukey bounce that the Leafs couldn’t seem to find all game

And the 4th goal was a perfect shot. That giveaway from Marner was something else. We haven’t seen him do that really this year

Seat Matthews until he is healthy. We were just fine without him in Edm games. We still have 1st line centre. No issue. Our dept plays great. Why force it?

This is just my opinion, but I think the 'out of sync' has to do with Matthews wrist bothering him.. clearly he wasn't himself tonight. But hey... Lets see what happens!

According to the organization Matthews has been dealing with an injured wrist all season, so if we believe that, this drop off in play is not really an excuse. They may have been spreading disinformation because they didn't want to emphasize the Rasmus Andersson hit/board collision. But at the same time, he can be just slow to return to form from an injury and lay off.

This should be their bounce-back game. Do you think they can win the Jets if they play like this?
If teams choke up the passing lane, leafs' top-line players are helpless.

The Jets are the worst xG team in the league. If they play like this, yes, they will beat the jets. Teams lose games. It happens.

High risk, but high reward.
A simple zone entry for a tired line isn't "high reward". And a high IQ player will know when to take those chances, but Marner has always struggled with his decision making.

Creativity is sky high, production is fantastic, but he needs to identify better

We haven't really even had normal good times up until 2016-17, and then that was intermixed with horrible and unusual breakdowns and letdowns, so it's a miracle we're all still here.

I am not convinced that Thornton is not playing injured still as well, he has not looked himself either.. Both Matthews and Thornton are bumped and bruised. The chemistry is just not there right now at all.. I blame it on lingering injuries on both, not an excuse, just what I observed.

Thornton doesn't look injured to me, he looks 41 years old trying to keep up with players half his age. The games are adding up and jumbo is fading. A serious cup contender doesn't have him weighing down their first line.

He shouldn't be playing any higher up the lineup than Spezza.

If teams choke up the passing lines against any team, their top players are helpless.
All the career points for the Leafs stars have been flukes I guess.
