This was always going to be a tough start for us with this schedule
Yeah, yeah, let's blame the schedule. It's so hard on all those elderly veterans our Leafs employ! Expecting them to get out of their wheelchairs on back to back nights, such a travesty!

Most gutless roster i've ever seen.

Kyle Dubas is a punchline in NHL boardrooms right about now. Imagine paying Marner/Matthews 11 million and not even being able to get 8 years out of them.

If you think this is because of Babcock it's not.

This!

Only GM in the league to hand out ridiculous contracts and not even get 8 year term and on top of that the so called highly paid players just float and don't put in any effort. They see contact coming they give away the puck like halloween candies to kids

We have very few guys who take it to the net. It's a big problem ... outside shots, shots from the point and a lot of garbage button hooks.
Nylander had a break early and could have gone right into Rask and made a move.
But instead he shoots from way out with a clear lane.
Pasta takes is right into the danger zone.

Why do you Marner apologists always need to bring up another Leafs player underachieving?

Both of them sucked ballz tonight. Happy? Does that somehow make up for the fact that Mitchy is massively overpaid for what he brings/has brought to the table thus far and we are essentially handcuffed for the next 4-5 years with the cap, as a result of it?

I’m worried about Matthews. This is the Bruins they were playing. He was invisible tonight. Sure, he’ll tally up the goals and points by the end of the season but when the going gets tough, where will he be? It’s not inspiring, to say the least.

Marner was poor but at least he was engaged and looked somewhat like he cared.

Is it just me or does this team not know how to pass? I keep on seeing passes to the skates, to the opposition's skate, to the opposition's sticks, or directly to the opposition. Is it the team doesn't know how to pass or the players unable to create separation from the opposition? Either way, yes the team is pretty "fast" compared to other teams, but they lose possession easily, and have a difficult time getting possession away from other teams. I feel like we have fast players, who don't play ‘fast", as in they don't process the game fast, so this makes the speed kinda useless. Case in point, Rielly?

We need to trade one Nylander, Matthews and Marner. Matthews can be much more dominant if he uses his size, but he doesn't. Marner and Nylander avoid contact at all cost. If your top players are sitting on their big paydays and not giving a full effort to win, this mentality will percolate to the rest of the team. It feels like most players on the team is playing for themselves, playing to get that payday by padding their stats.
Trade Marner for a dman.

Umm he had 5 playoff goals against Boston last year.

Very very very disappointing that our so called stars have just not been even close to good enough...

How can we point at the schedule's difficulty when we came into the season as a team with Stanley Cup aspirations?
Because it was a difficult schedule. I want and wanted more, but this was always going to be an uphill October

Ahh, so is the strategy to suck until January, and then pull a St. Louis? :dunno:

this team lacks the character that the blues team had ohhh... and bennington was money for the blues; freddy is good but i don't have much faith in him in the playoffs (if we make it)

Well I didn't expect much. Closer than I thought it'd be so that's something I suppose. 1/4 points this back to back. Let's try to get at least two on the upcoming one.

The bright side is the current Champs was last in Jan 2019 and ended up winning it all.
Well, that’s pretty much the only bright side.
Something need to be done on this team. They have all the talents in the World but they flat out sucks.
They might be the most talented team in the league but they are not fitting well. I really see something huge is coming, literally multi players and multi trades

Theres a big difference between blaming the schedule and commenting on it.

Well our GM signed him to that ridiculous dea just like he signed Matthews to his terrible deal.

Still if Marner and Matthews (add tavares when hes back) get back to their pre set levels the deals are 1 mill overpayments which can be lived with. Its nights like these where they come out and just skate for 60 mins that make people frustrated and make ridiculous claims. Everyones frustrated with the group, so it will continue. Hopefully some move happens which sparks the team to get going.

All of our guys wearing the A's are the ones who had the worst nights and the ones who have been putting the least effort in.

You really have to wonder about the dynamic of that locker room right now.
