typical doom and gloom reaction from a bad game. The Leafs played like they didnt care about this game. They didnt have any hustle or attention to detail.

It wont be that way come playoffs.

BUT, I would fire Keefe just for starting Woll. Samsonov just beat COL and the NYR. Leafs are on a 9-1 streak. Who does the coach start in the biggest game so far this season? the goalie who has 1 game in 2 months. If I were the players I would play nonchalant too, cause the coach doesn't care enough to the teams best goalie today.

I really didn't understand the goalie decision, especially because now it creates an awkward situation. Does Woll start against Buffalo?

Button is literally one of the worst media guys out there. He was one of the worst GMs of all time, constantly gets draft analysis wrong and is a peak example of a virtue signaling, click-baiting, brown-nosing hack that somehow gets traction in the mainstream.

I agree 100%.

To spend the time and resources the Leafs have to build up a goalie like Samsonov so that he can save your season, only to tell him hes sitting in the most important game is just bad management of people.

I wish I could say this with confidence but ...

I don't watch the media much but from the little I've seen, I'd say he's the worst bar none. I would only add that he has the most punchable face/voice/attitude that I've ever seen on hockey broadcasts.

Its one game and it wasnt a good showing.

But we need our stars to come up big in games like this ....especially at home. Our PP is bad at the wrong times.

Im still wanting a 2nd line center. Not sold on Domi ......Broadi and Lilly struggled....but I hope they still keep them together.

Vegas came into town and did the same thing. Upped the level up play, strong defense and goaltending we couldn't do anything.

IMO, Brodie should be waived and Lilly traded the Leafs cannot go into the playoffs with these two logging significant minutes. Neither of those two can be on the blueline - Tre needs to get active if not now in the summer!

We can keep rolling with it I guess or go with the obvious? The big problem early in the season was the 1st line trying to find chemistry with a LW, the 4th line, D injuries and Samsonov losing his smile. Now that those are looking better, I think I see a way to get things moving......

2024 playoffs are going to go exactly like the 2013, 2018, and 2019 playoffs. Holy Christ. Probably even worse, hard to fathom them going 7 against Boston based on how these games have gone.

Leafs can't get to the front of the net. Boston defense protect the house better. Forwards look more determined on the cycle/on the boards too. Add in we are 2nd best in net and you can see whey they dominate us.

The Bruins are the exact opposite of the Leafs. A team with strong goaltending and team defence, that's well coached with player buy-in. The result is a team that's greater than the sum of its parts.

The Leafs of this era have been poorly coached, with bad goaltending, defensively irresponsible, and players that care more about the paycheque than winning. The result is a team that's worse together than a lot of the players are individually.

Bruins were the best regular season team and choked in the playoffs up 3-1 in the series. Tampa did the same thing many years ago.

This thread makes it seem like this was sort of one-sided blowout or something. Get all sort of hot takes in here that despite the Leafs outshooting and outhitting the Bruins and hitting posts that they somehow were "outworked".

Just isolate the lines and pairings that got exposed and make changes going forward. Still have the trade deadline to come and Tre is on the block now. Lets see if he has some TDL magic in him.

Agree 100% and I can't think of a better example of this than the Leafs themselves. For seven years in a row we've been a solid, above average team in the regular season and a sub .500 team in the playoffs, that says it all.

I think "scoring effects" has an impact here. When you play like crap and go down 3-0, outshooting your opponent from that point on means nothing.

Can't win against Bruins or Cats with that D core .. sorry folks last night i counted our D core making 22+ grave defensive errors compared to 3/4 by Bruins .. Rielly and Lily topped da list with Brodie in close 3rd .. 3 of them led to Bruins goals which Woll had little to no chance to save .. basically we got Boosh, McCabe and Benoit who did what was required defensively .. folks Lily and Brodie are far far far too weak a pair against Bruins or cats .. we need Brodie to have a better defensive D on da 3rd pair .. and hopefully Rielly will return to playoff Rielly or at least pre suspension Rielly .. based on his histry i think he will .. Tre your work is not over .. his D core is not going to handle Bruins and/or Cats .. if you don't fix we are gone again round 1

As off as they were last night, and they certainly were, there were 4 or 5 posts, at least 1 puck on the line, for as off as they were that game could have gone the other way.

Sometimes you get the bounces sometimes you don't last night they didn't.

Take those 2 things away and the other lines/pairings got the better of the Bruins on the night, outhitting them and mostly outworking them on the boards. (Only 2 players on the Leafs had 0 hits in the game....Domi and Nylander)

I could see a shakeup of the 2nd and 3rd lines coming soon and people will whine and cry when we go back to the more effective lines.

Except after the first shift with the Brodie/Lily pairing gave the Bruins that first big chance, the Leafs dominated the next 5 minutes right?

Then the Bruins capitalized on PP1 staying out too long and Reaves taking a shot off the hand and then blown coverage leaving a guy wide open on the PK for the 2nd (not naming names). The Leafs hit a few posts as the game went on and Swayman had an incredible game (Woll wasnt bad either).

I understand score effects too but this game didnt make me think we couldnt hang with them, thats for sure.

It was a hard fought game both ways and we'll get em in 2 games. This is a Leafs team that has just beaten the Avs, Knights, Rangers, Stars , and the Jets back to back not long ago.

We may count errors differently .. when I watch from my 1st row blues i watch errors that cameras don't let you see on TV so unless you were at game you can't see them .. my errors include non puck related mistakes in gap control, shift changes, D positioning for outlets, D incorrect use of board and net positioning, net front errors, wall errors, plus stuff you see from camera related to puck possession .. we got completely manhandled and outplayed and all our goals against were completely self inflicted by out D core .. unless Sammy/Woll go Bobbo we are gone in 5 games
