I don't know if one is needed.... Did you expect another 60 goal campaign out of him? There is a reason its only happened 3 times this century.

My guess is he still ends up hitting 40 goals and is above a ppg. He's clearly been playing through injuries this season, so if he coasts a little more during the 82 games I'll live. Let's see what he gives us come the post season.
We’re all waiting and hoping for the playoffs and hanging to dear life of the excuse that he has some injury NOONE knows about.
And yes I did expect more for 50-60 goals seasons because that’s what elite players do like #97
Because he didn’t just score 60 but he was dominant
This year I hardly notice him
If he’s hurt get it fixed and take some time off now
Our position is pretty much set and we have good cover

Will be tough. Needs 12 goals in 19 games and good chance they rest him a few games as well.
Fair, I didn't think about the rest side of things.

AM34 has scored in a similar amount of games as he did last year, just far less multi-goal games. Would be nice if we saw a couple 2 goal games to get him going in over the next couple of weeks.

Avalanche lost; Rangers lost (to Boston); Lightning lost.

Nothing wrong with expecting another 60 goal campaign out of Auston Matthews and expecting great things from him after a Hart, Lindsay and Rocket winning season. Why is 97 finding the motivation to score 150 points this year? It's not a Leafs fan problem to have expectations.

I really don't buy this whole "he's injurred"

What part? Why is he not shooting - is it his hands? If it's his wrists, what's stopping him from skating, because he looks slower than tavares out there and more demotivated.

My guy looks like hes gone through some emotional damage and is in depression

I'd like for McMann to get another look now... actually having guys who work hard and that forecheck and play physically I think would help him a lot. I think he at least deserves a 1-3 game shot on the fourth line. Maybe even give Steeves some more looks in the top six.

Maybe he's upset that he's extension is coming up this summer and Keefe took Marner off his line, so he can't pad his stats

His injury history has been well documented. Rest is probably a good thing for him but i get the sense he is carrying a couple knocks (knee, wrist. etc.) and would likely not get fully healthy anyway.

#97 is the far and away best player and is currently in his best scoring season. This is the first time he hit the 50 mark.... so yees it is extremely rare even amongst the greatest in the world.

This team over thinks everything. The three player drop pass at the offensive blue line that led to the 2-0 was hilarity. Is this the mighty ducks? Let's stop trying to complicate the game, go to the net and pick up some rebounds.

I don't know what the f I'm watching sometimes.
Ya, the PP is stale from top to bottom. Zone entry, setup, everything seems so predictable.

They lose in Vancouver, it is known.

Why? That's for analytics gurus and philosophers to sort out, but the result is always the same: When they go Vancouver, they lose.

That tweet is disingenuous, as if blaming Kampf for the Leafs' recent struggles. He's the least of the Leafs' problems. The Leafs will live or die in the playoffs primarily on their top players and how they play.
no the tweet is saying our shutdown specialty center who used to play against top~ competition, is completely useless and a liability out there at this point. when you can't rely on a defensive special shutdown center at all, its not good especially in the playoffs on the road.

Based on history and stats it's extremely unrealistic to expect 60 goals year in and year our. Look at Ovi, arguably the greatest goal scorer of all time and only one 60 goal season.

McDavid who is clearly the best player in the world, just hit 50 goals for the first time in his career.

AM34 is an amazing player, but he is not going to hit those numbers every year.

He had the knee injury earlier in the season. I have wondered about the lingering effects of it. He definitely seems slightly less explosive at times.

I said it after the Oilers game, the team will probably go 1-2 after this Western swing. Also, they didn’t just add players to the lineup but actually adding players to change the way they played. This will take time to adjust.

What I saw today and I also mentioned on the GDT, that they are not protecting Murray after the whistle but starting crap on Demko after the whistle. And how Lafferty and Acciari just kept bumping Miller when he was going off for a change. How Schenn and McCabe was laying the body. You noticed how quick McCabe jumped in to protect JT. How everyone was finishing checks.

These stuff will pay dividends at the end. And they did against the Flames. It didn’t happened today bc the top guys are still being a bit too careless, not just the two shortys but also 5v5 when they allowed the Nucks to have odd man rushes.
Our top guys need to be better and stop being careless, bc odd man rushes are our Achilles heel over the past playoffs. You just can’t expect our goalie, whoever that maybe, to continue to make those saves and bail out the team.

Today is one of those games that, Demko and Murray just made saves that they should, I don’t think Demko robbed the Leafs and vice versa. The diff is Murray faced more odd man rushes and he can’t save them all.
You're being way too dramatic about the impact these plays have. This is standard league wide we are just so behind physically it makes it look like something magical is happening. Explain how any of this is going to phase the top teams in the league.

We have top 5 odds to win the cup yet 20 games away from playoffs I am reading excuses about chemistry building to be able to beat the Canucks of the league lmaooo

Yea and every team they lost too are far and away better teams than the Canucks so not sure what you are getting at here
Really? You can’t reconcile the teams exampled - our peers - with the idea that all is not lost because of a loss or two?

Chemistry takes time. Bottom feeding teams begin to play spoiler right around now when their season is lost.

Parenthetically included Boston as if to say, Boston is still humming though. You know (or don’t) for parity’s sake.
