Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 3-2 in OT

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Great first period. Completely controlled the game in every facet.

Arrogant second period, expecting your opponent to play dead like you would. Talk about lack of any sort of killer instinct. Confirming what we already knew.

Competitive third, mostly controlled by the Leafs but the Habs had gained their belief at that point.

In OT, Marner should have let JT change, but he took the change instead. He should know better. JT still looking slower and slower as the season progresses. Whatever he did in the offseason worked, but is clearly not something that lasts through the season. He was extremely ineffective tonight.

Just another game to make me question this teams ability to get it done when it matters.

While true it's part of a larger trend we've seen with this team that shows us nothing has changed that will lead them any playoff success
Disagree Leafs Habs ganes have always been a crap shoot they always elevate against us and there are many examples of teams pushing other teams regardless of standings. I am not concerned about this one at all. next.

@PromisedLand has been saying this for years.... and every time he has been correct.

thanks for remembering Cleetus.

CBJ did it to perfection in the series. Leafs also doesn't have a point shot where someone slaps or zips a puck from teh point and then people are in front looking for garbage goals.

they are always looking for fancy plays which are not really available in the playoffs. Its so infuriating b/c we know what the issue is and we are not fixing it

I think some of you think the Leafs are the only team that underperforms against weak teams. It's pretty common, and outside of the 2nd the Leafs were pretty dominant.
If every team underperformed against weak teams, the weak teams would be at the top of the standings.

Y'all know out of 31 teams we are 3rd overall right? We are still allowed a few stinkers where we get a point and still hurt them
We might be 4th in the east by tomorrow however.

The east has been insane the last few years it's not just a division issue

Outplayed them bigly in the first and third. Laughably bad in the 2nd got it to OT. No killer instinct in OT to lose.

Is anyone surprised by this type of game from the team anymore? How can we expect anything different come playoff time?

Refs did their best to give Montreal a win in regulation so they at least got a point

The 3rd period I wouldn't say that we outplayed them. I think montreal outsmarted us. Kept us to the outside; we played perimeter hockey; we make a mistake or take a moronic shot and feed oppositions' quick transition. Difference was that Samsonov made all the difficult saves or the game would have been done in the 3rd period itself.

Unfortunately, we have a culture, or attitude, that their skills are all that are needed. Too often our stars don't work hard enough. The Habs won because they outworked our overpaid stars.

For the most part our bottom six forwards were invisible IMHO!

The season is over, it will be the same result with the first round KO. Then the rebuild officially begins. I’m going to make a prediction that Matthews gets traded to Los Angeles after refusing to sign an extension in Toronto.

I remember when Babcock was hired he was talking about "Will before skill"; and people were making fun of him.

Cooper said the same shit after Tampa got embarrassed by CBJ in a sweep and the same people were praising cooper.

it is infuriating the lengths people go to here to protect dubas and the culture he has built here
