Collapse ?? You make it seem its preventable to lose...yeah up 3 to 1 and lose 2 ots..both times kind of fluke..2 on.0 and one of a defenseman...dont see the horror here. Toronto was never as good as the 2 games at montreal..deciding victories. Now its a game 7..u can complain all u want...the stars n going.nowhere. only thing maybe get a veteran netminder

Of course it's preventable......they are playing a team that doesn't come close to having the talent the Leafs have.

The only way Montreal can beat the Leafs is by putting forth a better effort and out working them.

The Leafs can prevent being beaten by outworking Montreal from the moment the puck is dropped.

Choking by losing 2 ot games...disagree. odds don't see toronto a huge advantage in any game. You guys follow it more then me. BUT...all of u said Fred Anderson was the problem..now he isnt..lol
You get the problems aren't singular, right?

He countless times does not use his body to separate puck from player, misses chances to finish checks and rarely takes s a hit to make a play...
Not saying he's physical. I am saying I don't think that particular instance was due to fear

It's less hard for other teams to win apparently. This incredibly talented team has 1 more shot to stop 5 straight first round losses and a choker reputation worse than any other Leafs team I can remember

It may already be too late?

As a Habs fan, I find this serie pretty entertaining and interesting, both teams are built completeley differently, Habs are build from behind to the top, Leafs the exact opposite...

I think Habs have done a pretty good job at neutralizing your speed in the neutral zone last 2 games, but if it wasnt of Price, this serie is over in 4 or 5, all this with your captain out, so I understand your frustration and there is alot of pressure on your top fowards to produce, but they are at least trying extremmely hard and coming so close. We will see how it ends on monday, good luck.

I’ve reasonably been able to excuse the recent playoff performances as bad match ups early on & fluky bubble nonsense, but if these mental midgets can’t find a way to get this done then heads have to roll, right? And I don’t just mean change up the assistant coaches and kerfoot... I’m talking this is when you have to look at some of the big ticket items and wonder where you’re going with them.... and I mean marner specifically

So then saying it was fred Anderson was kind of not exactly true since he hasn't played playoffs. I dont see a fix that will change things..other then veteran goalie?? Its game 7 and a wait and see. If you think a few changes will help then so be it.

Well you can't blame Fred Anderson after all. Who is core to get rid of.. .matthews and Tavares are never going anywhere.
Either Marner (preferably due to bigger cap hit) or Nylander. It increasingly seems Marner is well-suited to the regular season, but not so much to playoff hockey.

They need one line that is more aggressive than the Habs. Put Hyman and Foligno together. They need to somehow outhit and outhustled with at least one line. Split Marner and Matthews. Marner spends all his time trying to make cute passes to Matthews and Matthews is being shadowed every night.

Maybe they need to force Marner onto a line where he is expected to shoot more.

Tavares and matthews aren't going anywhere obv....if u think marner trade makes a difference then so be it. Oh..I guess Babcock coach wasn't the issue as well.

Not at all, they’re easily the most talented and “properly constructed” team in the North, anything short of a long conference finals appearance (not losing in 4-5) is a major disappointment this season. I use quotations because it’s obvious that they’re just not.

No he definitely was an issue, creating a toxic and unhappy work environment. That’s not to suggest keefe shits rainbows, but Babs’ time had definitely run its course within the organization

I think this is the frustrating thing. The pieces are all there, it's just a matter of executing and they're failing miserably.

While I'll bicker about some of the actual dollars, most are pretty happy with the talent at each spot through the lineup. We could have shaved a mill off Marner, but people would have been fine to overpay Rielly and Brodie for example. Could have saved a half mill on Matthews to play Nash more and acquire Foligno earlier.

This is really just a core group not being determined enough to finish the job. They've always been comfortable to look good, but not finish the job.

True. However, the issues he always complained about yet couldn't resolve, like lack of intensity and starting on time, are characteristics that still define this team - ergo, these are things beyond what any coach can fix.

This team is the perfect embodiment of its ultra-woke GM.
I've been watching for 45 years and no matter the talent level, this core just doesn't have what it takes in terms of heart and desire.

So you have a different coach and goalie...still issues galore. Fwiw, Babcock was recommended by lamieriello..who's like the hockey god...no God then lol

You're looking at one series. The fans here have seen this exact same thing happen for years with this core. There's something fundamentally wrong with them.

No the media doesn't pounce all over the narrative at all...

The Leafs have convinced me, a long time die-hard fan, to turn off the tv tomorrow.

As an Athletic subscriber Mirtle might lose my subscription next year. I haven't read the article but I'm sure it's convincing that this team isn't worth following. Not worth living and dying on their success (lack thereof). Certainly not worth shelling out money on paywall coverage.

Taking our money while they take our sanity. If we allow that we deserve the team we get.
