I hate talent. It's like growing up pretty. You don't have to dig in the same and grind. We need more ugly ducklings. And a coach who can stand up to a washed 41 or whatever year old.

There are plenty of talented players in the league who play with "heart" as we call it, but for some reason this team seems to have most of those who can't.

What a terrible coaches challenge.

Without that challenge, marner doesn't get a penalty and the habs don't get their 2nd goal.

Not quite as bad as the Montreal gm challenge but close.

I believe it's worse because he should have learned from the poor Montreal challenge just 3 games ago.

The Leafs have convinced me, a long time die-hard fan, to turn off the tv tomorrow.

As an Athletic subscriber Mirtle might lose my subscription next year. I haven't read the article but I'm sure it's convincing that this team isn't worth following. Not worth living and dying on their success (lack thereof). Certainly not worth shelling out money on paywall coverage.

Taking our money while they take our sanity. If we allow that we deserve the team we get.

Every year we do it to ourselves!

Its messed up.

I'm not going to turn the game on Monday night. If they win, I'll tune back in for round 2, if they lose I'm probably going to take some time off and let them win a playoff series before I watch again. I'm sure that I'm not the only one feeling like this team brings a lot more disappointment than joy into my life.

Ultimately what MLSE will notice is significantly less eyes on the product, so all I can suggest is that we give them that.

Choking by losing 2 ot games...disagree. odds don't see toronto a huge advantage in any game. You guys follow it more then me. BUT...all of u said Fred Anderson was the problem..now he isnt..lol
Andersen was “one” of the problems. It’s becoming more clear Marner is another one.

Of course it's preventable......they are playing a team that doesn't come close to having the talent the Leafs have.

The only way Montreal can beat the Leafs is by putting forth a better effort and out working them.

The Leafs can prevent being beaten by outworking Montreal from the moment the puck is dropped.
To me, that is the MAJOR reason we haven’t been able to win a playoff round. For whatever reason, this team (actually the core) think talent wins out over everything else. How clueless are they? Not technically making the playoffs last year, and 1st round exits in 3 consecutive years, should tell them you also need grit and determination (problem is, they tried to bring in players who had that, when they also should have gotten their core players to have that as well).

So you have a different coach and goalie...still issues galore. Fwiw, Babcock was recommended by lamieriello..who's like the hockey god...no God then lol

Different coach maybe but Babcock had it way harder. Bab had to go against two polished teams in Boston and Washington and he took Boston to game 7

Keefe has had significantly lesser talented opponent in Columbus and Habs

He's being schooled. Any other coaches would have double shifted Matthews with a hot had like Spezza. But Keefe makes no changes other than breaking apart a hot line

So where is mighty Simmonds? I thought he was going to be a playoff warrior. Smaller Habs run him over multiple times and he has done jack

Mikaheyev is again utter garbage

Keep playing then coach. Keep playing Joe as much as you have

Got to have a working pp. How hard can it be. You need to try new stuff if old stuff dont work to make good stuff happen.

Shorten the bench. Double shift player that are hot that game.

Mabe all these things are made, then i got no complains.

MLSE is in big trouble. People are jumping off the FC/Raptors bandwagon, and the Leafs have lost a generation of young fans because they haven't won a series in 17(soon to be 18) years.

Well when you have 1 shooter who Habs key on and the rest afraid to shoot and pass the puck around the perimeter like it is a hot potato, and play with little urgency wasting 30 seconds or more moving the puck backwards, it is pretty easy to see. The Habs on the other hand crowd the front of the net which the Leafs fail to clear and eventually end up with a greasy goal because the goalie cannot freeze the puck.

I mean nobody in their right mind was trading Hyman at the TDL
You are correct sir, however little to no dollars left to keep Hyman and fix the glaring holes on this team, unless 1 of the golden children are shipped out, won’t happen with the current GM imo........

Damn, this cuts deep. You've always been a reasonable poster so I can't even attribute this line of thinking to the fringe elements of the fanbase. I can't imagine not watching Monday but I can't argue with how you're feeling.
