Why do you think he's going to become an solid NHLer?

I mean he sucked with NJ, Nashville and Buffalo. Why do fans think magically he's going to become this powerfoward or someone who can contribute?

He had three good games the week he broke his hand so it looked like he had something left to contribute. But no.

Seriously though just show up in the playoffs - this regular season "we regressed" crap - wgaf
Even that said - we had beyond awful puck luck tonight, including a puck that blatantly went in at the end of the game.

Ofc this game will be blown up to monumental proportions.

This is the reason why this team needs more players like Foligno...this team is so immature and fragile mentally...hopefully Foligno is a difference maker for this team.

How many more "intangible guys" do they need?

Isn't that why they paid Tavares $11M?

Thornton? Spezza? Simmonds? Muzzin? Brodie? Hyman?

Pretty soon there's going to more "mature" guys on this roster than "immature" guys. Is anything going to change?

This is our worst loss since losing to the zamboni driver. Looked like the Canucks were absolutely gassed in the second and ready to literally collapse and we still can't beat them. Why can we never beat terrible teams when we should be killing them?

boo boo cry me a river, I’m pissing my pants at the melo dramatics

The Joe Thornton Fantasy Camp is over. He can't play a national league shift and can't even muster enough care to defend teammates in a scrum. There's no hockey left in this guy.

It ain't gonna happen when the coach is living the fantasy camp with him. I don't for the life of me understand what Keefe is seeing. Every time he steps off the bench, he's the slowest skater. Keefe has deluded himself into something that's not there.

But hey, we probably would of won if simmonds ran one of the Canucks players
His toughness would have helped us finish. Gritty master
Can’t wait to see Foligno watch one of our players get hurt and not doing anything about it like everyone else, because despite this teams newfound emphasis on “toughness” and “grit” they seem to be completely neutered.
It's a good wakeup for our fans too. Grit is basically useless if you don't have enough talent.

Emphasis on toughness and grit? We're the least tough/gritty team in the league. Who is supposed to be tough?. We've got 2.5 by my count. If you think this teams resembles anything tough, you've been watching too many Leafs games and not enough of the other teams.

Let's face it, this team had absolutely no excuse to lose tonight... none, zero. And we all saw what happened. I don't know what these moves Dubas made were meant to accomplish, but the way this is looking, getting past a 1st round will be definition of success in their eyes. If you think this core is gonna do more than that you're kidding yourselves.

My opinion more than once was that the team needed a big splash, the moving of a big contract. I also assumed Freddie might be moved.

Dubas has thus far this season been successful with the smaller moves. The team is in first, no matter how poorly they have played of late. My approach would have been different and more aggressive. We can't say he hasn't tried to surround his skill with gamers.

I hope Keefe puts more pressure on the stars to play seriously and not build a clubhouse attitude in which players think style points mean more than results and drive.

Move minutes around and let harder workers get more PP time. As soon as Foligno and Nash are ready, bring their pedigree and commitment into the lineup and give them heavy minutes.

Come playoffs, this team can't be this loose.

We haven't won a playoff series in almost 20 years.

There's no such thing as overreacting anymore. Lol

Not winning a playoff series in 20 years has nothing at all to do with the hot takes people are saying about tonight's loss.

Lots of posters that never post when we’re doing good coming out of the woodwork now.

Smh what a joke some of you are.

I'm complimentary of this team when they deserve it and I'm equally critical of them when they don't.

So many extra, unnecessary, passes, trying to score highlight reel goals. A powerplay that continues to look horrible. Back to shooting pucks back into the logo of the goalie and along the ice where they can make "easy" pad saves. Soft goals being given up my whatever goalie is in net... When I watch a team like the Caps or Avs, I like the way they play because it leads to wins even when they can't make those highlights reel plays. If Toronto isn't scoring highlight reel goals, they just don't look that dangerous to me.

Can't even blame Dubas. He changed to the strategy that some fans wanted and look whats happened.
Maybe it is skill>Grit?
You can blame him for ham stringing this team wit 50% of the cap on 4 forward thus the only type of gritty player he can fit under the cap are either old and past their prime or just low skilled.

Zero playoff series wins in 20 years and some people still accuse us of "overreacting". It's equal parts comical and infuriating.
I know Spezza and Jumbo were playing 20 years ago but you can’t pin the failure in the last 20yrs on the current Leafs- last 5 years is fair.
They lack the killer instinct and I just can’t see them moving past the first round. As much as I like JT, he can’t lead this team, heck he hasn’t need the Leafs ever since he got the C.

1.Thorton, this game alone had 3 dead plays once the puck touched his stick. It's over.

2. The powerplay MUST stop with this set play nonsense that is so PREDICTABLE. We only scored on the break because it was..A BREAK a counter attack.

3. Weak goal by Campbell, i still believe in him, just watch him once he gets another win.

4. I love the fancy stuff because creativity is strong in this team, lots of talent, but sometimes i wish they would work like Crosby, all that talent and he's always had a grinder way about himself, an oldschool type game with his skill, we need that.
1. Ok we’ll ignore the 5-7 other grade a chances he set up guys with

2. The powerplay needs to dump it in more, that’ll allow the zone entries where they carry to be more fluid.

3. I love Jack, but he might be too mentally fragile to be an NHL goalie. I’ve been on his team the whole way. Need better than what we got, and he IS that, just need to figure it out between the ears.

4. Crosby bats pucks to himself and bats them in. We score a lot of goals, we didn’t have any puck luck tonight, and haven’t for a while.

This team peaked in those 3 games against Edmonton, hopefully this is rock bottom and we start to climb towards peaking in the playoffs.

Keefe-Thornton seems to be the dynamic duo to replace Babcock-Marleau.
