Holtby played well.

How long have some people been watching hockey? Like honestly, this is getting f***ing insane how some people cant see the shit right infront of them.

Holtby played well. Campbell didnt. Have you never seen a dead tired team or a just a shitty team get carried by a goalie one night? It happens.

Then we gotta read dog shit posts like yours all night.

You're damn right it happens all the time.

So tell me, which part of my post was the dog shit part?

Facing a backup?
The Covid Infections?
The lack of games for Van in weeks?
The 7 mins of PP in the 2nd?
The fact they were down to 5 D for 1/2 the game?

Or are we just going to go with the "expected" goals and the bad, bad luck our heroes have?

Foligno will walk right up to JT and rip that frickin C right out of his chest.
Unfortunately Foligno will play very hard for a game or 2 and then ask him self why am I working so hard when almost no one else on the team is and he will become just like all the other savours we have had the last few years
Remember when Marleau was going to teach them how to win with his great leadership. Then JT was going to put them over the top, then Jumbo and Simmonds were going to be great leaders. They have all fizzled out.
When is Dubas either going to be fired or figure that this kind of nonsense will not work?

Yep you can definitely run into some hot goalies in the playoffs that can steal a series. It happens all the time. Hopefully Campbell will be one of them.

Sure, we need our goalie to "steal" a series against Montreal or Calgary. Leafs can't just beat them outright with all their top end talent. They need a goalie making 2M a year, to steal them a series.

This team lacks maturity and that killer instinct to put away other teams. They also wither as soon as the going gets tough.

I'm seeing pretty plays when the simple plays are the way to go. Over passing and not enough shooting and when they actually shoot it's when there's no traffic. The lack of offense from D is a pretty big void this team has had. They have desperately missed a D with a dangerous shot from the point.

Love watching Holtby dig the puck out of the net and have the refs go "Jeez guys, I don't know about that one, better review it on an iPad to figure this one out."

Simmonds played 15 minutes today and Joe played 13

You should really do some research. They played in everyline, they have been given every opportunity
Both have played with Matthews, Tavares, Hyman you name it

Spot from who? I don't know, Robertsson? Engvall will at least skate
Did you see Saboruin? He fought Lucic, he threw a hit that game. He knows his role

There's a guy name Anderson in AHL looks like a decent 4th liner. You let go of Boyd for SImmonds?
Boyd was a better skater and overall better player

You do realize we were down to 11 forwards so the wingers had to be used throughout the lineup right?

I do agree that Thornton gets played too much, but he was good tonight. Don't remember any turnovers or poor defensive plays.
Like, Marner was absolutely worse that Jumbo tonight in taking care of the puck and not putting his teammates in negative defensive positions.

Campbell seems to let in a lot of squeaky goals. There has been at least 3 or 4 in his last couple of starts.

Also the team needs its depth players to score. Can't have the bottom 2 lines do nothing.

Teams with no killer instinct don’t have 2 regulation losses in their last 12 games.

Lots to be written yet but Dubas has his coach, corrected his mistakes this off-season and went all in at the TDL. I blame the players if they make a quick exit but how many kicks at the can should this core and management team get?

Last year it was a new coach, a new system. he didn't get a full season, blah blah blah
There are coaches who came middle of the season and won stanly cup. We didn't even get a playoff spot

He got 2 decent backups this year, got 2 new D and one of them is solid. Multiple new adds as depth player and he still can't put a team together

This is the reason why this team needs more players like Foligno...this team is so immature and fragile mentally...hopefully Foligno is a difference maker for this team.
This is 2021. Players like Foligno really do nothing for players like Marner and Nylander. The Leafs need a guy who has Foligno's personality but can also play. They essentially need a Marchand.

Ok, you are more than welcome to traceback on NHL.com and see their ice time

Simmonds played 14;30 and Joe played 14 mins last game against Winnipeg

Leadership deficit on this team extends to the coaching staff. Hard to imagine the players even taking the PP coaching seriously at this point.

I'm sure we'll get the big brain 33 million dollar panic line when Keefe's offense is predictably shut down by the NZ trap.

Lets give him a chance at least? Maybe he'll bring something positive on the ice too.

But, if what you say is true about Marner and Nylander, then we are f***ed either way. Especially with Marner, he puts his teammates in such poor positions to try and defend his turnovers... Even if he toned it down 50% we'd be giving up less.

They had chances when he wasn't on, but didn't convert. The longer it went, the better Holtby played.

Need Spezza to finish that wide open net and the PP1 to stop playing like idiots (last PP they were solid, others were bad). We passed up way too many chances early to try something pretty.
pp1 needs to stop the drop pass only entry. Every team know they will drop pass:help:

Games like this really make me wonder what they'll do if they don't go on a run.

You can't come back with this core if you don't come out of the North.

Agreed!

Ideally Dubas is shown the door too if this team doesn't get it done.

I do think Foligno will help calling out the BS cute plays; and think Freddy will have a big playoff once he is back and healthy.

Just hope Hyman is ready to go and they don't rush him back

Agree with this 100%

I thought you were talking about this game specifically. I don't care about games that are over, can't change them.
I do agree Thornton plays a little too much. 4th line plus PP2 is enough imo.

The collective “deer in the headlights” look this team has is concerning.
You figure some of these role guys/coaches would be able to fix this crap.
Well said. I call it “fragile psyche”. The talent is still there, but the swagger is gone. Others have called it the killer instinct. Too many mellow personalities. Thornton, Spezza, Simmons have brought the needed veteran presence, but they are all described as “very nice”.

obviously Dubas is a classsy human being, but does he use himself as a ‘screen” in building the team? Why can’t we have a few mean sobs like Evandrr Kane, Ryan Reeves, Tom Wilson, or just an instigator like Brad Marchand?

too many sanguine types.........

There's another way?

Rumours abound from the south of a straight ahead entry. I know it sounds mystical!!

Even that I can deal with, but, the thing that is soooo predictable is the soft dump, hard around. Tonight, the Canucks picked off at least 3 of those... right on their tape.

The PP is a mindless machine... predictable and easily defended, entry aside.

My final thoughts before I go to bed

* we need secondary scoring, top two lines are bringing it but they can’t do everything

* better goaltending is needed

* Matthews back with Nylander, JT back with Marner to mix it up

* Rielly off top PP go with 5 forwards
