Currently what is the next game, Saturday vs Ottawa at SBA?

Oh yes sorry I meant postponed.
Well they’ve postponed Monday’s game against the Canes and Thursday’s game against the Habs. Saturday’s game against Ottawa is still scheduled. So unless the 50% attendance restriction rule changes on January 2nd I don’t get why Saturday’s game was not postponed.

Probably because they can't postpone them all, otherwise they'd have to extend the season into May. Saturday games also allows the NHL to not mess with the Rogers TV contract, which is the league's biggest revenue stream.

Postponing due to attendances looks really bad for the League.


Maybe just let the Canadian teams play and have those American teams
Subsidies for once.

They can't league would go down .. you do realize 50% of league revenue comes from da Canadian teams and fans .. and tickets/merch/food at these ticketed games account for over 50% of revenues of each team .. these owners are not going to continue to fund these teams and pay ridiculous franchise investments ..
This is not NBA NFL or MLB where TV contracts are vast majority of league revenue .. it is why hockey is not really da 4th sport .. not putting hockey down i love it but it is our reality

NHL is completely inconsistent in delaying games .. Ottawa stays on? and Canes get called off? .. wdf .. this makes you go "what da f*ck"????????????????????? for attendance reasons???????????????????? .. i guess idear is to push Leaf/Habs home games into March and April so NHL does not lose da revenue share but of course they never tell da truth do they??????????????? Gary is such a legal begal political guy makes me sick

Someone just told me it's because Jan 1 they can have 50% but starting Jan 3 it's 0 capacity.

If the NHL was run by intelligent people we wouldn't be testing players with no symptoms, therefore we wouldn't be having this delay the NFL doesn't test players with no symptomS and they are doing fine.

At some point the NHL has to understand this isn't going anywhere and they have to move on like every other league has.

NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC they have all moved on.

It's time the NHL gets on with it.

Thought the cross border was league imposed so it wouldn't apply to basketball.

if the gov't (or league) is banning cross border travel for NHL teams due to omicron, then holy f***. there are so many contradictions and completely irrational decisions being made.

Toronto Maple Leafs Schedule

Carolina and Montreal postponed, everything else is on.

Our Leafs are catching a break with the cancelling/postponing of games because Leafs are currently hit pretty hard by Covid, and would be better off when they're rescheduled.
