Postponing due to attendances looks really bad for the League.

Maybe just let the Canadian teams play and have those American teams
Subsidies for once.

NHL should just say we aren't going to reschedule and everyone just plays until they get to 74 games or something like that. There are people paid lots of money to make schedules they can figure it out.

I vote for whatever keeps the players and fans "safe and effective"

So now it’s about attendance at games? I hate to break it to the NHL, but full arenas aren’t happening again anytime in the next few weeks, the optics alone are a non starter. Terrible look for the league, play the bloody games.

Especially the Leaf games. 50% capacity isn't bad considering the situation. Man the league has had some bad looks this past year.

My guess is the NHL is counting on North America being on the downside of the Omicron wave in a few weeks, and that Canadian capacity limits will be reduced by then.

Also, they're greedy for money.

This may well be true, but I agree it's a bad look for the league. Playing a few games at 50% is not the end of the world. Don't the Coyotes play all their games at 50% capacity?

So if the league is postponing our games because of attendance then why is Saturday night’s game not postponed?

How do we know it's the league though? I find it more likely it's MLSE that pushed for this.

Not cancelled, postponed. And I believe they have.
Oh yes sorry I meant postponed.
Well they’ve postponed Monday’s game against the Canes and Thursday’s game against the Habs. Saturday’s game against Ottawa is still scheduled. So unless the 50% attendance restriction rule changes on January 2nd I don’t get why Saturday’s game was not postponed.
