I think the NHL is just trying to fit in games and try to keep those revenue streams running where possible with the understanding that a good percentage of its teams and players are dealing with Covid outbreak. Get whatever it can and not worry about some overarching policy which won't work in the short term anyway.

Our Leafs are catching a break with the cancelling/postponing of games because Leafs are currently hit pretty hard by Covid, and would be better off when they're rescheduled.

Hopefully a lot of teams are on the mend and everyone is happy and healthy by mid January or so. Maybe the league is being more careful with the higher gate receipt games Toronto would be involved in and want to hold those games for when the league is healthier.

How many times can you catch Covid?

If 75% of the Leafs have already caught it and created natural antibodies in addition to being vaccinated then the league is playing the odds that in time it would be better to have more fans in the building with rescheduled games after CDN teams get through the biggest 1st wave of this Omicron, with more players available to play those games.

Also you would think salary cap consequences are driving this also as plying in front on 1/2 capacity or less buildings is not going to help future salary cap projections based on full attendance.

Bet they're glad the agreed to the Olympics, so they compressed the schedule, and now with that window they have space for make-up games.

If the NHL was run by intelligent people we wouldn't be testing players with no symptoms, therefore we wouldn't be having this delay the NFL doesn't test players with no symptomS and they are doing fine.

At some point the NHL has to understand this isn't going anywhere and they have to move on like every other league has.

NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC they have all moved on.

It's time the NHL gets on with it.

You realise that the difference is how much border crossing is involved in the NHL.

The Canadian government is making it extremely difficult to operate. I am sure the NHL would be right beside the rest if they could.

This is a digression, but in light of franchise valuations going through the roof on the recent sale of the Pittsburgh Penguins, I wonder if the very question of "cap consequences, escrow and hockey related revenue" will have to be re-visited by the NHLPA.

I can't recall the last time this Board was so quiet.

I blame whoever ordered the test kits with the marketing slogan "Now With More Asymptomatic Positives".
