Besides the snowing I didnt see anything wrong with what happened yesterday. Even the snowing was marginal.

The problem is, if Leaf goalies receive contact like that on a daily basis, they will get injured. That contact would never happen with Boston goalies because the team would lose their mind.

Scrivens was not overly bullied in the game. The first hit and the snowing urked me slightly but I think Carlyle will have his goalies protected.

I'm only worried about Kadri with respect to faceoffs. Bozak and Grabo will do fine, we had an off night in the face off circle but they are historically good enough.

Bozak will be fine, but Grabo and McClement are average at best. I didn't see much use of having Orr on the ice instead of Steckel tonight (or most nights).

So thrilled about komarov. Loved what I saw. He's gonna stick and become a huge part of our team. Reminds me kind of Tucker in some ways. Kadri is here to stay for sure - he looked so different from what we've seen of him in the past in the NHL - even though he probably could have stuck then too.

Didn't see much offense from him, hopefully that will come. He did a good job otherwise.

If either reimer or scrivens can be average goaltenders over the year, we're gonna do just fine.

Keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath. It makes me wonder, though. Like I said earlier, I thought that even when the Habs had sustained zone pressure, they were mostly kept to the outside, and couldn't generate much. Did they make our defenders look good, or is our defense embracing (and succeeding in) Randy's system?

I can only recall one three on two we gave up, which was a noticeable change.

That was perhaps the most shaky first star of the game performance I've ever seen. Alarming rebound control, Scrivens has to get that under wraps, because a team with guys who can actually score will murder that type of performance. Must say though, great team defence, we had a very definite hive mentality, was so good to see.

Loved Komarov, McClement was great, we have real grit.

Actually reminded me a lot of the start of last year. People were praising the goaltending when the wins were coming in spite of it and while people may not remember, at the beginning of the year we started out playing very simple, safe hockey, which I was excited by. Just hope they keep it up this time.

Yes, it is now mythical the way people talk about Reimer's hot start last year, when I recall him being OK at best, the team was playing very well in front of him.

I can't remember if I've seen a penalty for snowing before. Surprised me.

But yeah, I fully support that if someone runs your goalie, first opportunity you run theirs.....harder.

Montreal fans kill me.....for instance booing for an interference call when it's clearly YOUR guy doing the interfering. Do they think this magically convinces the refs of something different? It just looks dumb.

Yeah, I remember getting consistently bashed for pointing out how his performances had gone down a fair bit dating back to a stretch in the previous season.

Bryan Hayes on TSN was challenging this notion of how good Reimer was last year prior to the injury. Reimer was okay out of the gate, but the team was playing fantastic and I thought his numbers weren't a true indication of how good he was, because I recall him SCARING me still, despite the start.

Reimer's play was clashed between his injury and this new play style that he took on. I will certainly not insult a great goalie coach that is Francois Allaire but Reimer should have been playing his own style that nearly put us into the playoffs.

Reimer posted a .912sv% before his injury. that is still below average goaltending.

much, much better goaltending than the leafs usually receive, and good enough for them to win more than usual, but still below average.

if the leafs can get below average goaltending this year instead of godawful goaltending for once, they'll have a good chance at the playoffs

And No breakaways either!!! Shows how much coach makes a huge difference!

Personally, I liked Kostka, but he was slow. Don't get me wrong, he played a good game, but I'm reserving my optimism for a couple more games. He got beat or almost beat to the puck a couple times because of his speed or lack there of. It'll be interesting to see how he matches against other teams.

I LOVED Franson tonight. His stick was always in the right places, he played the body well, got the puck through. Played a very solid overall game. I liked the pairing with Liles, and he had a very solid game as well.

I am really concerned of Scrivens. His rebound control was quite sub par. Thats one thing I realized I under appreciated from Gustavsson. Gustavsson always seemed to direct his rebounds into the corner or out of the play really well, meanwhile Scriven's rebounds would be two feed in front of him in front of the net. I was pretty much worried every time Montreal shot on net.

Komarov did his job well, and I noticed him on the PK a lot.

I think this team still needs more size... but it will be interested to see how this season plays out!

Yes, I remember he didn't have a great camp. Despite the success from the season before, I was a little worried too. I think he can be a great goalie, needs to get back in there at some point and prove it.

Note: if frats for Bernier is on the table I would do it.

Actually over the years their fans could and did intimidate refs into making calls in the Habs favour.

Tenders are my specialty if I may call it that. Gus is an athlete, Reims is not and will not transform into Quick, he is slow. Sorry to say it but if the rebuilds taken seriously, Bernier should be taken into consideration.

In the end wins matter more then sv% and GAA. Reimer was providing wins pre-injury.

The Leafs are hitting a lot: just as much as LA / Philly / etc. did in their openers. I even noticed Phil Kessel getting engaged physically in the corners last night.

Komarov's a beauty. So glad we have him in our bottom six and I think he played pretty well on the penalty kill as well.

Just what the doctor ordered.

MacArthur deserves a little more credit this game I think. The MGK line wasn't effective and MacArthur was the only one keeping up a good game.

That's pretty surprising considering the fact the Grabovski and Kulemin were playing in the KHL
