Only Sheldon Keefe would throw out what has been working well for us (our strongest stretch of the season), only to go full blender again to address one person out of the lineup. Wonderful Keefe.

Domi isn’t effective on the wing, Tavares brings down Nylander, etc. but he keep trying it’ll change in it’s own 🤔
You know Keefe came from the AHL

Who amongst us has sent these lines to Alter? They look like typical HF lines we might come up with.

Before the end of the game we’ll see something like this:
Knies. Matthews. Järnkrok
Bertuzzi. Domi. Nylander
McMann. Tavares. Holmberg
Dewar. Kampf. Reaves

Being tough isn't our issue. We beat the Bruins up physically just fine. They beat us soundly on the scoreboard though.

This raises an interesting philosophical problem for me.

As a fan, I obviously want to see the Leafs beat the living crap out of Boston, Tampa, Florida, and what have you. Heavy on heavies, stars on stars, line brawls, hits, etc. Out Bruin the Bruins, out Lightning the Lightning, beat up the Panthers at their own game. That's the nature of sports rivalry, playoff heat, etc.

On the other hand, you could argue the Leafs top end is not designed to play that way, and any attempt to match Boston, Tampa and Florida is actually a losing proposition.

If the Leafs were able to dictate a low emotion, low intensity, fun puck possession game and Harlem Globetrotter style game where their stars thrive, that would actually be the ultimate success. Negate all of the other teams strengths, play a style you're comfortable with, and win to the tune of Hall and Oates.

Anyway, just something to think about. We're always premised on the idea of trying to match someone else's game plan.

If Lili thought his leash was short before he better start playin his best hockey because Keefe pretty much saying he's only playing because they didn't want to take out the right shot defender.

Beating teams on the scoreboard is what our 40-50 million dollar top forwards are supposed to do. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt this past week since apparently a flu bug was going around.

Uh . . . ok . . .
Marner's out, but that seems like a very arbitrary reason to absolutely put everything into a blender with 2 new guys coming in. Yikes!

Not sure if this is the way to introduce new players in the lineup. Very odd.
Chemistry, handedness, skills etc covers it

That or he needs time to recover from the obvious brain damage he suffers from not shooting that puck.

Imagine that was a playoff game.

Or he had the flu, like everyone else, and well... if anyone has had the flu... your abilities and decision making aren't up to par.

I'd like to see Brodie given some time off.

Rielly - Lyubushkin
Edmundson - McCabe
Benoit - Liljegren
Brodie/Giordano - Timmins
Benoit is out because of the handedness of D Men. He also wants to keep Edmunson comfortable in his first game here on the side he prefers he apparently can play both sides but hasn't for awhile.

Come playoffs, the strong D Men must all be in the lineup. Thus, Benoit must be in the lineup come playoffs.

Thats a massive stretch. If your flu is that bad that you decide to not shoot the puck into an open net, you shouldn’t be playing
It's like that other flu they shut down the world for in 2020. You don't know you have it unless you take a test. lol

It’s more likely the puck bobbled a bit on him. Being a right handed shot, finishing that isn’t as easy as it appeared.
