Right or wrong that's how it was.

I didn't like seeing players getting hurt. But yes, different era and I admit cheering for some of those hits that likely caused some permanent brain damage in hind sight. What you don't know.... but now we do and I don't want to see anymore players hurt by dirty hits.

As funny as it seemed at the time that Stevens dirty hit on Ron Francis with Francis actually crawling back to the bench was devastating in a very dangerous way

i still remember the Stevens on Kariya hit. like i legit thought Kariya was killed.

Yeah, Stevens hitting all of those people to the point that their careers were entirely over... Yeah, he "didn't know" he was hurting them. It "was a different world".

Similarly, 300 years ago some men didn't know that there weren't really witches. So let's rationalize their treatment of women in that era, as they literally burned them alive. Claiming it "was a different era" doesn't excuse behaviour. Most men lived 300 years ago without murdering women. And most nhl players 15 years ago played without routinely ruining careers. Stevens would hit people as hard as he could without any consideration to what it was doing to that players career, life, and family. I don't make excuses for him. You shouldn't either.

And everyone hit everyone else as hard as they could. This sport isn't for you. Try curling. Less traumatizing.

Learn history, also. They burned men, women, children, priests, and everyone else for heresy.
