I think you need to move on from Marner. We need more toughness and grit in the top 6. Florida exchanged Hub cap for Ratchuk and they are in the ECF. Despite having a down regular season.

I can't get with all the people saying we were terrible, embarrassing, etc.

The line between winning and losing is razor thin in this league and all 5 games could have easily been wins (we also won a few vs. Tampa Bay that could've...should have? gone the other way).

That's how it goes.

At the same time it's necessary to question why we're never on the right side of these battles. Something is definitely missing when some version of this underachieving ending plays out every year.

I'm not excited about a rebuild, if that's how it goes, and I'm surprised so many are calling for that. We waited generations to build patiently through the draft, hit on virtually every high pick, and still can't get over the hump. Those assuming a rebuild guarantees anything better than this are either new year or haven't noticed how much of the league is mired in mediocrity.

Changes are needed, but deep cuts are much more likely to have us taking a step back than forward. That's the most frustrating thing about this era.

Last thing I feel like posting into the void for this season: it’s pretty pathetic but honestly thank god this core finally won a round. I was thinking it wouldn’t happen and it was a great night when they finally did. Nothing can take that away.

Nothing wrong with that. You take joys in the small things. And I celebrated that win because it had been so long, that it shows you can't take it for granted.

That week saw some remarkable feats .. winning 3 on the road and being the first team to do so in OT in all games .. coming back from a 4-1 deficit with 10 mins left - incredible! The 7-2 smackdown? Lots of fun.
