No I would never include him .
Truth Chychrun 4.6 mil contract , trade is only worth really 1st round pick and a second round pick
And a 3rd round pick . Based on offersheet of a 7 mil 5 years

Why exactly is the offer sheet relevant in discussing value for a guy with 3.5 years remaining on his contract?

Leafs need to unload that contract to make others fit . Simple math.

The OP has 50% retention so no they don't need too. The OP just like most typical Leaf fans are trying to sell this low ball as an over payment. 2 last firsts for a young top pairing D at 2.3 million and you want them to take a cap dump for adding replacement level pieces? OP didn't have a single enticing piece. Last first don't cut it.

Arizona - Chychrun 4.6 mil cap

Tor- 1st 2022, 1st 2023 , Knies

based on offersheet 7 mil over 5 years .

that’s all he is worth . No team will pay more then this .

coyotes will probably keep him and lose him in 3 years

yes this is still an overpayment.

I see it's now long past someone's bedtime

As for the offer. I would venture to guess that to be competitive in an offer for Chychrun without retention Arizona would be looking for an offer like Sandin, Knies, 1st and Ritchie (or a cap dump of some sort) I would venture to guess those are the types of offers a lot of teams are putting together given the reports that are coming out.

A) Why bring up Sandin if he’s not available. My point was the leafs don’t have the prospect pool to truly compete with some of the other teams in the league.

B) if you are insinuating all trade value is based on offer sheet compensation then yikes
Based on the most recent evaluation of NHL prospects by THW the Leafs big 4 prospects ranked 20, 21, 29 & 42. those are quality level assets.

Fox refused to sign an ELC with any team but NYR, how is that remotely the same? He also developed into a completely different player from his draft time. When drafted he was an offensive dman that was not good in his own end. Obviously that is not the case anymore
Knies is a top prospect, Niomela is a top prospect and 2 1st round picks .
Who do you think he is Matthews?

You still haven't explained your previous thing on the Offer Sheets
If he was a RFA and a team made an offersheet , AZ would get more . He is not an elite defence man , not close to what Rielly was and is .

Reason I said that was because Knies was offered in trade and looks better then what Fox looked like in 2016.

Fox has developed into a Norris candidate defenceman. If you're even attempting to justify Knies future worth in comparing him to where current Adam Fox has developed into too these mental gymnastic one's attempting should be put to bed.

1. How is that at all relevant to the thread?
2. Is there any base to this claim or are you just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks
3. how the hell do you have over five thousand posts and less than 5 total likes? Really goes to show how out there your opinions are

We are talking hockey here , we may not agree that’s fine . We don’t really know what some players will become in the NHL , I think so far Knies looks good to be a top 6 forward. That’s my opinion.
The other part of your question, I don’t know what happened to all the other likes on my account. Maybe they got deleted, maybe we had to restart this account and likes disappeared . Im not here to insult you , just hockey and what I think .
The player Power just hearing he’s going back to school next year and probably won’t sign with Buffalo.
You might know , when has a1st overall pick taken this long to sign a contract?

This dude makes up a bunch of BS, And actually believes his own crap. His trades are purely  and not even remotely realistic. He offers absolutely nothing to Arizona for Chychrun all the pieces are like 3-4 years away from being NHL ready.

Power going back to school is fine. The guy has his right to an education and Buffalo's not rushing him. I think you are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill here.

You are welcome to be high on Knies all you want. That doesn't make him a blue chip prospect. But if you think it does then my team must have drafted the next Pavel Bure in Rory Kerins. Knies hasnt even played in the AHL yet. He's around a ppg in the NCAA, Caufield had nearly 2 points per game last year. This isn't a knock at Knies because I do believe he does have potential, just maybe pump the breaks a bit on your hype train.

Back on topic of Chychrun though. He is a top 30 dman in the NHL at age 23 playing on an abysmal team. He is one of the best guys in the league at getting pucks to the net (similar to Josi/Burns). The problem is he literally has no one on his 5v5 lines that can capitalize on that most of the time. Despite his +/- He has actually been sound defensively this year and ranks 29th (3-way tie) in defensive WAR league wide amoung defensemen
