This makes no sense. You are basically saying that unproven NHLers will make the team better. No way. :help:

I'm basically saying we finished 26th with those two and why wouldn't unproven NHLers not have the potential to be better ?

IMO Kads/Frattin > Lambo/TC and if i'm wrong we're no worse off .

Yeah the same guy that he allowed Wilson to run out of town. The guy that in all likelihood wouldn't have re-signed with Burke - and you'd be looking trading Brett Lebda for 3.5M in Lombos salary LOL

That Franson yes.

I'm glad some of Burkes supporters are still outspoken - aren't too many of you around anymore - I wonder what happened to the 80% ???

Do you also mean the same guy that even Randy was reluctant to play?

While I agree, it's entirely a matter of perspective. It doesn't neccessarily need to be a conspiracy as to why he was "held back", Burke/Wilson may have genuinely felt that Kadri was worse than those players (Wallin et al.). In which case, that's just asset management, which is their job.

Perhaps. But all the highlights of Kadri down in the AHL, scoring incredible goals, on coaches corner during the intermission while we were down 5-0 to boston (or whatever team) after the 1st.... seem to make more sense now. As senile as Cherry is he had a point...and now... with the moves Nonis is doing, ridding ourselves of the dead weight and letting the kids play is great --and also partly Carlyle's doing as well.

Kadri was ready a year ago to make this team. There is no doubt in my mind. Kadri was held back by politics, no doubt in my mind. Some of Burke's executives probably fought for Kadri to come up and play on this team, full time, there is no doubt in my mind.

I'm starting to think that Burke ... relies heavily (to a fault) on his coaches opinions. In Anaheim, he had Carlyle and Carlyle made Burke look like a genius. And whomever Burke brings in as a player - he is loyal to a fault with them too - and would ride his mistakes all the way to last place.

He was RFA.. Franson cant just walk out and go play for another team.

Who says his contract wasnt already drafted over the summer with his agent and just waited for the new CBA. 1 year contract, sounds like a burke contract.

At 6'5" he'll always look slow. Big guys always look slow, they've got to make up for it with their reach and ability to protect the puck.

Yup - especially if he's playing along side the speedy Brown!

Stekel is a solid 4th line C ... guys a BEAST on draws - He's got great size on a roster that overall is TINY I have no problem riding him for another year.

Source on whether the #leafs intend to pursue an accelerated buyout for Tim Connolly. "Hasn't been discussed."

Hmm... I think JVR/Kadri would be shifted over before Colborne would get a call up.

Bozak - Grabo - McClement - Steckel - Kadri - JVR

The above can all play C.

He's never played center in the NHL. Just because there was talk about him being tried at center for training camp over the summer, doesn't mean that he can play center.

I agree, I think he may be part of another trade and is being held off the ice so he doesn't get injured.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tim Connolly was not on the ice at practice on Thursday and it's expected the veteran forward will be placed on waivers. Should Connolly clear waivers, he could be bought out of the final year of his contract, which carries a cap hit of $4.75 million this season. Full Story.

Leafs using one of their amnesty buyouts on Connolly would be great news, as long as they save one for Komisarek next year.

I applaud Nonis, as he is really going to town cleaning up the inherited mess and making room for younger better players.

Depends if Kulemin plays like he did last year and if JVR is healthy or not. I have serious doubts on either of these. Our bottom 6 is awful.

It's really not that bad. McClem, Brown, are very good in their spots, Steckel is pretty decent and is elite in face offs. JVR or CMac will also be in our bottom 6. Then you have Frattin or Kadri and maybe Komarov. What is the problem ?

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Kadri-Frattin
Kulemin-Grabo-Mac
Komarov-McClemment-Brown

Or something like that

I would be pretty okay with a similar version of the above

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Mac
Kulemin-Kadri-Frattin
Komarov-McClemment-Brown

Why would they do that ? Make 0 sense. They can pay him to play on the Marlies if need be and watch him walk next year. Better to save the buy outs for players that are worth it.

You sure about that? You realize he's a Burke acquisition right?

Why buy out a player who is an UFA after the season?
