Love what Nonis is doing in his first week on the job.

Making Brian look even more incompetent than he already did.

Don't forget the Franson signing!

@DarrenDreger: Tim Connolly not on the ice at Leafs practice. It's expected Connolly will be placed on waivers. More opportunity for players in system.

waivers...what's our GM doing. Now we have no D and less offence with Lombardi and Connelly gone.

Great News :D

kadri to center the 3rd line now IMO

McLement is going to center the 3rd line to start...i think thats pretty set.

Would prefer to see Kadri on the wing anyway, so maybe:

Lupul Bozak Kessel
JVR Grabo Kulemin
Kadri Mclement Macarthur
Komarov Steckel Brown

I know Kulemin is a LW so we have two LWs on the 2nd line but i don't think thats impossible.

(we had kulemin grabo macarthur in the past...)

Kulemin has played RW for the last two seasons so it should be fine.

He's cleaning up dead weight. We have a ton of forwards, and this is a great chance for the young guys to be given a shot. It's about time. Connolly and his disappearing act can move down the street to the Ricoh. if he doesn't get picked up

I think McClement will slide down to 4, Kadri #3 and then Frattin on his wing. Who knows though.

Wow. Colour me impressed.

Atta boy Nonis , keep clearing out Burkes trash .

While i'm not crazy about using one of our 2 buyouts on an expiring contract when we don't need the cap space , i'm also not crazy about trash like TC chewing up rosters spots that can be better served by playing guys like Kadri .

Best case senerio once he clears is to just send him to the minors that way we keep our 2 non cap buyouts .

For all you know Burke would have done the same thing.

Right what was Brian doing? Buying his time? LOL No way he would have waived Connolly in his last year after just signing him ... Brian was incapable of accepting failure - we'd be riding BOTH Lombo/Connolly into the season - and Franson would not have re-signed.

Thank god for Nonis/Cope saving this franchise.

We'll get murdered with this lineup.

i think Kadri is going to be put in a position to succeed. They wouldn't use him in a shutdown capacity alongside McClement. It doesnt make sense. I have a feeling he will be paired with two capable scorers like Grabovski, Kulemin, Macarthur or JVR. Perhaps Frattin whom he has had alot of success playing with at the AHL level.

I don't understand why we are doing this, unless it's only to free up another spot on the roster, Connolly is a free agent at the end of this year and we have plenty of cap room after trading Lombardi yesterday, I have to believe something else is in the wind.

Not sure which team you were watching last year, but neither of those guys played particularily well defensively and very little offensive production relative to what they were being paid to do.

Out on the front line, don't worry I'll be fine...

Nonis is a ****ing Hero. Where are all the Burke supporters now?
Next up has got to be to Trade MacA

Probably still pleased with the foundation he's left, saddened that he was let go as he was, but optimistic his protege can continue in the direction both have been working so hard to steer this franchise in.

Admiration and support for Nonis doesn't necessarily equate to disdain for Burke. And stirring the pot to produce that effect does no Leaf fan any real good.

A number of moves have been made in rapid succession, and it could very well be that management had a plan when and if the lockout were to end. At any rate, I'm pleased with the acquisition of a pick (Lombardi) and another spot opened up for our youth.

L.A.C.K is almost dismantled.

I don't think you can hide nhl contracts in AHL anymore, so even if he clears waivers, we still on the hook for the cap hit. Thats how i understood the new CBA.
