So what happens if we trade Bozak in a package for Luongo, now? Kadri is our first line center for the whole season, with no possible support or replacement if he falters?

We've gone from holding him back to throwing him to the wolves.

Edit: Read this a few pages back, and feel better now:

At some point, you have to cut the umbilical cord. May be Kadri is ready to face the wolves? Even if he falters, what makes you think Nonis doesn't have a contingency plan.

Question: so if Connolly passes through waivers and the Leafs do an accelerated amnesty, that means they've already used their amnesty for this offseason, and would have to wait til the 2014 offseason to use their last and final amnesty, correct? So in other words, Komisarek wont be amnestied this summer?

I'm glad some of Burkes supporters are still outspoken - aren't too many of you around anymore - I wonder what happened to the 80% ???

Really? BB was masterful trader for us, who brought in quality for quantity and talent for scrubs in 3 years here.

He could be criticized for his signings, but there were not many top players who hit the market in last 3 years because reality of past CBA dictated to teams signings of their own players well before they can reach UFA status. Leafs were in tough because they did not have much talent and other teams did not want to help by releasing their best players. Is there surprise in this?

As _any_ GM he was reluctant to give up on players he brought in, especially in the first year after signing. I though he would clean the roster this year regardless, but one of the benefits of appointing Nonis is that it could be viewed as new GM creating his footprint and therefore will not turn off UFAs in the future.

He actually left our prospect system in much better state that he inherited. I will argue that roster has more talent as well. And our cap situation is probably the best in entire league.

So, BB did what good (if not great) GM would do to the team. I fail to see why BB should not be appreciated around here. In fact, I think most fans just dont want to argue with nonsense you spewed here.

BB is the man of his principles and many can see value in that. I'm sorry he did not budge on principles to please some fans.

Do you think Nonis would let him go for free if there was even one taker at full price?

Some of you guys act like Nonis has no idea how to deal with these situations.

Or do you think he deserved a roster spot over Kadri/Frattin, who seemed to have outplayed him in camp.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have donne it, i was realy asking when's the last time it happened.

Orr will have a spot, rightfully so. Love all you guys saying Brown can do the fighting. Do you think Lucic, Thorton, Sestito, Shelly, Boulton ect remotely even think they could be in tough with Brown? Mike Brown will get zero respect from the big guys in the n.e. moreso Brown shouldn't have to fight these guys. I love all you legends in here, trust me when I say the skilled players feel more comfortable when playing these tough teams knowing Orr is in the line up. Make up any excuse you can to not agree with this. The leafs have no one that garners any respect in regards to the big guys in the east other than Orr. Ask Lucic if he will drop them with Orr again, that kid hasn't been humbled like that before. Orr is also highly respected and liked by his peers, if you keyboard gms don't like it log onto you Xbox and do something about it.

You could definitely see guys like Phaneuf, kulemin, komiserek etc. playing with a lot more intensity when Orr has their back. Last year when Orr wasn't in the line up, the whole team looked like they were holding back in case they have to fight the other team's tough guy.

Isn't this the last year of Komi'e contract. In which case they won't save a cent on the cap. Who cares I just want him gone. ASAP

I tend to agree with this. I actually like Orr, team needs a stiff upper lip and ability to dish out a Lucic leveling uppercut.

Carlyle agrees with this too since he put in Orr ahead of steckel. With all our young guys playing, the definitely need someone who will stick up for them.

Not necessarily no. Teams have 2 to be used over the next 2 summers (other than this week of course), we can use one now, one this summer if we want.

Useless player. Another one of Burkes great signings. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

Thank you both of you! I can't stand the Nancies all over this forum who hate having Orr on the team but rather have the bum Steckel on the team. Brown is a solid middle weight, one of the best in the league, but in no way shape or form could he handle the toughest division in the NHL all by himself. Team's would be licking their chops to take runs at Kessel and Kadri while having to reply to Brown. Hopefully we get Brown, Orr and Fraser on the team.

Why so much hostility? You could see the potential good in a signing like this. Short contract. Who cares. Sometimes the dice rolls your way, other times it doesn't. Not a big deal, let's move on.

It means Bozak and Kadri aren't on the table at this point.

This has been such a fantastic day!
Best of luck to Lombardi in phx, and here's hoping connolly is claimed or doesn't ever have to be recalled due to injuries.

Hostility?! None here guy. This is all about this franchise turning a corner with players not giving there best. It's time. We are all big boys.

thanks, is this line up just some kind of guess by tsn staff or its been confirmed by coaching staff ?... something else strongly points toward this, cause kostka on first pairing with phaneuf is odd.

Oh, i'm not saying he doesn't have a contigency plan. This is most likely part of a bigger picture. And I hope we continue to see more roster movement. Would be great to add a goalie or legit top center.

My only issue is the fact that Connolly seemed like a good insurance policy for injuries, or players lost in trades. I don't see the benefit to losing him for nothing to a waiver claim or buyout. I hope he clears and goes to the AHL. Then we can at least call him up if there is a need for him.

I would also be happy if we got some kind of return for him, like with Lombardi.
