It makes zero sense to buy him out and waste the buyout when the season is only 48 games and his contract expires at the end of the season. Redden and Gomez both had another year on their contract which is why they will (probably will) be bought out.

Outside of Komisarek, who are our other buyout candidates?

Kulemin? Phaneuf? JML? Grabovski?

everyone else is off the books or too cheap to buy out

I think he has/had a broken foot

I saw some games last season and he and Frattin were the clear NHL'ers on that roster. Their play was impressive. IF Holzer can return to that form he will be a good addition to the roster. I really feel he and Frattin need to be here now.

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - MacArthur
Kulemin - Bozak - Frattin
Brown - McClement - Komarov

give us a pure scoring line, a scoring lline with some defensive awareness, a very defensive line, and an energy/hard hitting line

with it being obvious that Komi will get bought out and Steckel dropped, I wonder if JML is possible to be moved as well? Considering unlike the others, he has a longer term remaining

Komisarek has 48 games to prove himself.

Teams have been signing all sorts of defenders recently.

Let's see if dropping the weight has helped Komi.

No one will be bought out this year.

Komi probably gets amnestied next year.

You save the other one in case of a disaster... Like JML or Grabo losing their game completely or something. We really don't have many bad contracts left, and the ones we do are expiring at the end of the season.

Until he got hurt he was playing very well. I am hoping he can return to that form and get something of value at the trade deadline.

@mirtle: Carlyle on Kadri: "He's proven he has NHL skills... He's been one of our strongest players at camp... We'd be crazy not to recognize that."

@mirtle: Carlyle says Connolly didn't out play people they have kept. "We've got to get to 23 by tomorrow."

:handclap: Yes! Awesome.

The end of L.A.C.K....Komi must be sweating bullets lol

Wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo (Very Young down the middle...familiar) or Van (Injuries) don't take a flyer on him with only 1 year left on contract and this years Cap still high
Leafs are down to just Special K now. Great news.

Good news. Country club atmosphere of entitlement is over.

Is Connolly really impossible to trade? I don't understand why we put him on waivers. He's only under contract for one more year, you'd think that a team will pick him up like Vancouver or Chicago.

I don't understand this.

heavy cap hit and poor numbers & injury problems, yeah, I'd say he's pretty close to untraceable

Might be able to trade him for Lombardi.

I'm not even all that eager to get him off the team at this point either. It's looking a little thin on the backend at this point(assuming Rielly goes down) and we basically just need a warm body or two back there.

He played on the third and fourth lines for the majority of last year.

He's a good player, he just wasn't given a fair opportunity here. Don't get me wrong, though, I'd prefer to open up spots for youngins.

He's too much money.. I'm sure some one will call and see if the Leafs will eat some of his salary so a team can grab him just for centre depth.

It puzzled me as well. Lombardi fetches a return and Connolly has no takers for even a 7th rounder ?? Either way , I'm glad were clearing our dead weight..

Is Connolly really impossible to trade?

If Nonis was stupid enough to waive him without trying to receive value for him first, he wouldn't have made it out of high school, let alone spent decades in management positions of businesses worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

I love the moves this team is making, I've said this a couple of times but I can't wait to see Kadri full time for once. Pressure is there to perform every night but now if he has a bad game or two he's not going to get sent back down.

What difference would it make if it is Aucoin or Connolly on the Marlies?

If someone picks Connolly off waivers great, if they don't Aucoin/Connolly both are not prospect and Leafs signed Aucoin for their farm team to help the farm team.

It isn't like the Marlies leading scorers are all under 25, it is a veteran club with prospects throughout.

yup, I'd have no problem if connolly was kept on the marlies as injury depth.

Only thing i can think of is instead of absorbing 25-50% of Connolys cap in a Lombardi type dump, they waived him in hopes of a team claiming him so they are off the hook for his contract

BC is having some tough times at C. I hate the thought of dealing with them tough in case Luongo gets mixed up in the deal. :D
