lol i love all the Burke hate here still. Just because Burke was in the middle East doesn't mean whatsoever that he couldn't be "called" cell phones do range all over the world and there is such a thing as the internet to help along too. Burke has his hand in every signing this Nonis signed connolly is crap. Burke was the GM and he was the one who wanted Connolly i am sure after missing out on B Richards. 2 years of Connolly isn't even a bad contract.

Here is a list of teams that MIGHT be interested in Timmy C's services... even on some of these teams he may not be able to crack the top 6 forwards list..

Abbotsford Heat
Adirondack Phantoms
Albany Devils
Binghamton Senators
Bridgeport Sound Tigers
Charlotte Checkers
Chicago Wolves
Connecticut Whale
Grand Rapids Griffins
Hamilton Bulldogs
Hershey Bears
Houston Aeros
Lake Erie Monsters
Manchester Monarchs
Milwaukee Admirals
Norfolk Admirals
Oklahoma City Barons
Peoria Rivermen
Portland Pirates
Providence Bruins
Rochester Americans
Rockford IceHogs
San Antonio Rampage
Springfield Falcons
St. John's IceCaps
Syracuse Crunch
Texas Stars
Toronto Marlies
Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins
Worcester Sharks

Buffalo could probably use Connolly back? With their depleted center depth he could fit right in

Hodgson
Ennis
Grigorenko
Hecht

I don't think Buffalo wants him back. We're good with going with 3 1st rounders down the middle.

Connolly would be a good 3rd liner somewhere as a defense-first forward IMO. Florida maybe.

"You're only as strong as your weakest link"

Looks like Nonis is taking Leafs worst +/- players in ascending order and checking them off his list and off the team in order.

Leafs WORST +/- players for 2011-12;

Matthew Lombardi @ -19
Tim Connolly @ -14
John-Michael Liles @ -14
Dave Steckel @ -14
Mike Komisarek @ -13

Carlyle wants to instill a better defensive system so it only makes sense you get rid of your greatest defensive liabilities as the first step.

No chance..guy has bad worth ethic and is just an injury risk now, that's why we got rid of him. Buffalo fans/media would completely lose their minds if the Sabres brought back Hecht AND Connolly

Funny, as soon as someone mentions Buffalo and Connolly a Sabres fan comes swooping in.

Do you guys just sit there waiting to roll?

"CONNOLLY AND SABRES WERE MENTIONED 3 WORDS APART! LEAFS BOARD! MOVE IN!!!!"

Haha, was surprised to hear the Connolly news so just wanted to see how the Leafs fans felt about it.

Practice Lines

Forwards:
Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
MacArthur - Grabovski - Kulemin
van Riemsdyk - Kadri - Komarov
Brown - McClement - Orr
Steckel - Frattin

Defence:
Kostka - Phaneuf
Gunnarsson - Komisarek
Liles - Franson

Goaltenders:
Reimer
Scrivens

Does Kostka need to go through waviers? Is Holzer still there? That's 22 players and Gards is not listed.

McClement makes Steckel redundant, 13th forward. IMO:

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
Mac-Grabo The Warrior-Kulemin
JVR-Kadri-Frattin/Komarov
Brown-McClement-Frattin/Komarov
-Steckel (rotates with Brown), Orr (against teams like Boston)

I agree, but do you think Carlyle does? If I remember correctly, Steckel's ice time improved once Carlyle was hired, and we all know how Carlyle loves his top-six bottom-six teams. I really hope this means a spot for Kadri, as I believe he has nothing left to turn in the A. But even after dropping L&C, I don't see much room for him. Hopefully Nonis makes a fair trade that unloads some top nine players(Frattin/Mac) for a goalie.

Maybe once Gardiner is ready, Komisarek will be placed on waivers and then bought out and Holzer will be the spare "D", or Holzer will be put on waivers.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the opening day Line-up though.

Also maybe the Cologne Sharks too...

Nonis is taking charge in a way in the right way. Obviously in the middle of a rebuild you need to play the the young guys in the system. What is the point of holding on to older players who are not playing the "right way" anyway. What do they contribute in that case?

He has rid himself of a couple of ugly contracts that were just taking up space on the roster. I did not think MLSE would let him do that. I guess that was part of the "do it the right way" message he got from the new owners.

I am actually hopeful if this is part of a continuing pattern.

I think they are probably hanging on to Komi but I would rather see a younger D from the Marlies given a shot. Holzer has had a little fall off in his game but you might as well see what he is made of ASAP.

I think he has/had a broken foot

Good eye. Looks like a move in the right direction.

Hes not going to get bought out. He'll be traded or assigned to the Marlies.

It makes zero sense to buy him out and waste the buyout when the season is only 48 games and his contract expires at the end of the season. Redden and Gomez both had another year on their contract which is why they will (probably will) be bought out.

with it being obvious that Komi will get bought out and Steckel dropped, I wonder if JML is possible to be moved as well? Considering unlike the others, he has a longer term remaining
