It's ridiculous because he's not a better player than multiple players in that poll
Well, 61 people disagree with you. And you can't claim it's biased with Leafs fans dumping votes onto him.

At the end of the day, does it really matter? Do you really care that much?

the best part of this post is that in reality, the leafs are one of the deepest teams in the league, replete with a championship AHL team full of cheap young talent.

meanwhile, there may not be a team more reliant on one great line than those Bruins.
They have Christmas in July it would be a nice touch if the Leafs did Cup in July with a parade and tin foil Cup. Taveras and Kadri are from London it would be a nice touch if they rode in a 1967 continental convertible with Dave Keon, Eddie Shack, and George Armstrong finishing up at the HOF where Gary Betman dressed in costume worn by the Mayor Wizard of Oz welcomes the Leafs into the Hall.

I may be happier than any Leafs fans they got Taveras because the sad faces on all those Leafs fans when the Bruins once again take them out in the 7th game - hopefully in overtime following an overturned Leafs goal by Taveras for goaltender interference

Who is this Taveras character? He sounds nice.

In your opinion maybe. But as you can see from that poll your opinion is a minority one. The guy is a franchise altering C that most teams dream of drafting and regularly wait more than a decade to get the chance.

Dubas is a pretty smart guy, just before the Tavares signing he goes out and hires Lawrence Gillman. Leaf fans will learn to love this guy in the way he can straddle the cap and help with hometown discounts on players. He was our cap wizard on the Canucks during the best run in history. Very smart move by Dubas and Shanny.

They sent the Leafs to the off-season with six rookies in the line-up. They'll be fine.
And the Bruin's offseason so far has seen them lose Riley Nash and Rick Nash from their top 9 in the playoffs.
I hope for the Bruin's sakes that they have a couple more of those rookies ready to jump into their spots and produce otherwise it will be a long season watching the Leafs and the Lightning pull further and further away.
Tavares would have been a good get for the Bruins but he wanted to go to a team that would contend for his full contract not just two years.

For 9 years, Leafs fans have been telling me the Bruins were failing and they were going to surpass them. The Bruins have finished ahead of Toronto for 9 straight years and broke their hearts twice. Now the same people are saying the same things, but I've been right for 9 years, they've been wrong. Best of luck next year.

Reminds me of when people predicted the Pens demise due to the cap year after year. The fact is that the only reason Pittsburgh's original Crosby-Malkin-Staal core was broken up is because Staal wanted scoring line opportunity, and to play with his brother. No such issues with the Leafs, unless Nylander has an aneurysm and decides he wants to play with Alex in Buffalo.

The idea that the cap will bust up the Leafs' core is nothing but wishful thinking from jealous fans. Guys like Kadri and Rielly on sweetheart deals and a pipeline full of prospects ready to come up and provide good complementary players on ELCs is going to sustain Toronto for a long time.

The Leafs cap situation is not bad at all. The negativity towards the organization is laughable.

Whats also laughable is the cross talk of...
"Marner is gunna break out and be a 80-90pt guy!"
"We can easily keep all 4 when we sign Marner for 7x7.5AAV"
And Leaf players are overrated until contract time comes then they will be the highest paid in the NHL.

OP states they’ll be able to keep their current roster cap compliant but not be able to add any significant pieces. Ya no shit. Isn’t that the problem?

I guess but they’re going to need to build a defense. Hopefully they can do it internally

We have internal pieces and prospects coming, we are not devoid of talent lol but no doubt Dubas will need to be razor sharp with cap management, no wrong moves or things get tricky.

I believe you will see a decent RHD move made, on top of the young players coming up and that are already here on the backend.

I think a major question is Zeitsev, he had a broken foot, concussion, and was really sick at varying times of the year. I believe he will come back strong, and that with Dermott, Reilly, Gards, and I could see Rosen (who really adjusted well to North American ice the last half of the season) filling out the D, it won't be as bad as people think.

Plus we have guys like Sandin, Lilly, Durzi (a pick I loved) Gordeev, Holl etc. down on the Marlies working everyday on development. So it's not like we won't have internal growth.

I watch a lot of hockey, and I believe we will have a solid D. Not a sexy Hedman or Doughty type name, but I think over the next two seasons people will be surprised.
