Just watched the Ryan O'Reilly top notch new news at tsn video....the man is tough. Mannnn... like Michael Mann tough. Heat tough. The skill and all... He's also an ex-conn. Just like the men in Heat.

I would feel better with that train of thought but since the trade-deadline and the tinkering the Leafs record is just about .500 they lose almost every second game.
so while they have been flexbile they have not been overly successful
So if it does go 7 then the Leafs should win this time... if not in 6.

I wish we had like 4 Brodies on this team.
Id kill for a prime Giordano. He’d fit so well on the team. Complete two-way beast who we could pair with McCabe to be the shutdown pairing. Would free up Rielly-Brodie to feast on 2nd-3rd line competition.

One can always dream though

How many slashes to ROR's hand do we see tomorrow? I say at least 4 (none called).
Bruins gotta test out the gloves, make sure they are working:naughty::naughty::laugh:

I think I'm the only one that doesn't actually mind those lines. I guess after tomorrow I might have a different opinion.

My bigger worry though is getting the PP really clicking. I think given the makeup of this team, this really needs to be our strong suit an an intidating factor in the PO's. If it goes to just average, we could be on some doodoo.

Wasn't last night their first game together?

They're all talented guys and I'm sure they could figure it out over some time, IMO time for experimenting should be over.
Keefe just seems so far out of his depth at times.
It's not an experiment, WN and JT have been very cold at 5v5. What's the solution to that problem? Put Marner on the line for a while.

I'd kill for a prime Pronger on this team, someone who can put the fear of god in the opposing players and has a screw or two lose. I like that I see opposing teams do the double take when they see Schenn barreling down on them but he's not a psycho like Pronger.

How often have they played together? I don’t recall them playing much if at all together in the past.

Last year they won 7 of 9 going into the playoffs. This year they have been resting players, had lots of injuries to the forwards, have been getting more and more players chemistry on the team and finding roles for guys. Experimenting with 11/7 and learning there, plus trying to get Murray back into shape after an injury and he wasn't good.

I am not concerned I think the boys are dialed in just not on these meaningless games

The record is not great, but I would argue that since the 6-2 win over Florida they've been playing pretty solid hockey where they've outplayed their opponent almost every game and have looked pretty dialed in despite some unfortunate losses. Most encouraging thing has been Matthews looking like his old self again. I think they're also still going a bit easy until playoffs arrive, where I expect them to ramp things up with their full roster.

I wish you were joking but you’re probably bang on with that statement.
This is exactly why I would dress Wayner tonight .. da 1st whack to ROR glove would be Leaf closest to bench jumps off and Wayner immediately jumps on ice and drops whoever quick even if Marchand .. a donny brook would break out but thats ok .. message sent no f*ckin with our guys

Did you see last nights Rangers Lighting game .. OMG it was an all out war .. dirtiest game I have seen all year .. Kuch getting his playoff game ready .. and Rangers did not cave in one bit

Stupid Liljegren man...just had to have the worst turnovers while playing great otherwise that bumps him off again.

It absolutely sucks if he's not on our playoff roster.

It isn't turn the other cheek time, that's for sure. I'm of the opinion that you don't wait for Boston (or Tampa) to start the rough stuff. You initiate it. Don't be the prey. Everyone talks about Marchand but Pasternak has boldly played it rough against the Leafs in recent matches and should be as much of a target.

I would wait for that approach to playoffs .. Bruins may play a sit on your hands type of game and if they do then that's fine .. no one gets hurt and we don't have injuries for game 1 .. it will be very obvious early .. da tell tale sign is if they go after Rielly hard on forecheck with da elbows and boards

I know this is a big playoff test. And I sure hope the team responds accordingly. But for me, I'm only watching to see how ROR looks. That's the factor with the biggest playoff implications, in my mind.

Lets see how the lines do against a big step up (although Columbus have beat the Isles, Washington, Ottawa and took the Bruins to OT in Boston the last couple of weeks)

Against the Jackets:

Bunting Matthews Jarnkrok: 75% xGF%
Marner Tavares Nylander: 70% xGF%

Worth a second look for sure.

There has never been a better purpose for Simmer than these last two big games against Boston and Tampa. I want him out there hitting anything that moves and engaging whether in scrum or fight. It also allows someone else to rest at the same time.

Schenn should be out there too. Batter them up good for the playoffs.

JT, Nylander and Marner together doesn't seem to make much sense. All 3 love to carry the puck, a lot. Not enough puck to go around. And while Marner is a pretty good forechecker as he's tenacious, I'd rather have at least one winger that can play aggressive on the boards.

I guess if Keefe is just throwing spaghetti against the wall, but the 3 have never spend any meaningful time on a line together in all the years they've been here and I suspect the reason is why is it didn't sound like a good idea. Still doesn't.
