Is this correct??
The Leafs Magic Number to clinch home ice against TB is 2.5.

6 point Leafs lead
5 games to play
If TB goes 5-0 and we go 2-2-1 including losing against TB we will clinch home ice.

Any combination of the Leafs getting 5 points or TB losing 5 points will do it.
Tiebreaker will go to TB.

The first tie-breaker is regulation wins (RW), which are all the wins you've accumulated minus those in overtime or the shootout. If teams have the same number of regulation wins, the second tie-breaker is regulation and overtime wins (ROW), so only the shootout is excluded. If still tied, the total number of all wins is used and, if still tied after that, the edge will go to the team that accumulated more points in the head-to-head matchup against the team they're tied with.
Max points tampa can get is 106. so get 106 or 107 and we clinch

Do people think these players like just lose chemistry or something? Like Matthews and Marner can play on separate lines for a full year and Keefe can put them back together randomly in the middle of the game and they are fine lol I feel like people just needlessly worry about these things to much.
There's nothing wrong with mixing and matching but there is a time and a place for it.

Boston for example has had Pastrnak driving Boston's 2nd line (really their 1st line) with Krecji and Zacha. Problem is is that they've ran that line combo almost all year. Leafs on the other hand are trying a bunch of wacky stuff right at the end of the year and it doesn't seem like it serves much purpose.

Yes I would rest the big 4. Run something like

ZAR - Accairi - Bunting
Jarnkrok - Kampf - Simmonds
Zohorna - ROR - Kerfoot

McCabe - Brodie
Gio - Schenn

Woll

Most of the game. Tell em the player with the highest hit count at the end of the game is promised a spot on the roster game 1

My point is that all the top guys have played on and off with each other over the years. I just don't see this concern about chemistry as a real thing.

They didn't get many looks, but their own broadcast thought it was one of their stongest defensive/goaltending efforts of the season and credited us for generating so many chances despite that - even talked about how well constructed we were for playoffs. Sometimes it takes an outsider's perspective. The doom and gloom on tsn and sportsnet (and here) get old in a hurry.
I didn't watch on tv so no idea of the commentary.
If giving up 50 shots is one of their best efforts, I wonder what a poor one looked like?

I saw the Leafs in Columbus earlier in the year and the BJ's looked much better in that game. The Leafs did too.

Different perspective can be good, if it's correct.

Good to see ROR back in lineup to get warned up for playoffs
Also good to see Keefer's preferred 6 man D lineup play Boston
I like it my only worries are Rielly and Holl thinking they are bobby Orr .. they both need to be told to eliminate all risky plays
I would like Lily in over Holl but Lily shot himself in foot in 2 playoff style games so he lost trust of coach

Poor Schenn is gonna look horrible during this game lol.
Someone has to stop Greer, Bertuzzi, Coyle, Frederic and Hathaway from taking our net .. those are 5 guys who all play a very rough game .. Holl better bring his big boy game too to help out Schenn and McCabe .. need 1 guy on each pair who can lay da lumbar

As much as I would love to beat Boston at home, it still means nothing. Don’t get injured. Wrap up that sausage O’Reilly because, well it’s Boston.

I'd rather they steam roll them for 60 minutes and take that confidence into the series.
We all know the Team lacks confidence once the playoffs start.

Didn't we beat Tampa like 6-2 or something last year going into the playoffs, how did that turn out

edit: nvm i see we also lost to them 8-1 week before playoffs

I don’t know what Keefe saw from those top two lines last night that makes him want to stick with them.

Agree with Kypreos today, if that’s your Matthews line come playoffs we won’t win. Suspect it won’t be though, but Keefe needs to figure it out fast. Last night we looked very disjointed despite generating chances Imo. Nylander and Marner won’t work, leave Bill were he’s comfortable genius.

they were blocking a lot of shots and doing everything they could to keep us to the outside. Played us hard and physical down low too. I think the Leafs ended up with close to 90 shot attempts so that says something. I watched from the second period on and thought we were finding creative ways to generate good chances, moved the puck well and were generally tenacious. Columbus is a weak team that tried their best, but we overwhelmed them in the end.

I dunno, he does well with breaking up cycles and clearing the crease. Those are good qualities to have against Boston. Schenn would look worse against a team like New Jersey IMO

The way Boston forechecks it’ll expose schenn early and often.

Although since posting my original post, I’m okay with schenn being in if he’s laying out some bodies before the playoffs.
