The bruins have no 1C, no true 1G, and use a tandem now

They dont have the depth they had across the board in 2018 and 2019 defensively on the backend or at forwards

Also they have gone from 4th in 2022 to 1st in 2023 to 7th in 2024 in Goals against. This is the worse they are in 3 years.

In 2022 the Canes (worse offensive team than the 2024 leafs) scored 21 goals in 7 games vs the Bruins good for 3 a game

In 2023 the Panthers (a similar offensive team to the 2024 leafs) scored 24 goals in 7 games or 3.42 goals per game

The 2024 leafs vs 2024 bruins should be able to get 3-3.5 goals a game vs the bruins. They arent a good defensive team past two years come playoffs and have not been able to shut down canes or panthers.

Game 2 the offense has to thrive and get shots that can actuall beat swayman. We had a 2 or 3 high quality looks maybe yesterday and besides that took way to many low danger chaances

I'm not commenting on any of the other text, but what do you mean the Bruins don't have a true #1G? They have 2 #1s. They have the reigning Veznia winner as their back-up...

Ulmark is unplayable come playoffs

He has choked hard back to back years and lost his spot to Swayman

Swayman isnt like Rask where he was a proven playoff goalie who had multiple series wins

He has sky high potential but this is his first series where he is the expected full time starter. We arent facing a proven elite 1G playoff goalie like Rask in 2013, 2018, and 2019

No true #1 is a lot different than they don't have one of the better playoff goalies of the 21st century...

Anyways, I think most people would agree that their goaltending and defensive players/structure are better than the Leafs. We just (obviously) should have a big edge on offense and need our stars to take over. Onto game #2.

They have the reigning Vezina winner as a backup right now... Stopped reading at no true 1G.

Not that I have a lot of expectations for this series but Swayman and his durability needs to be put to the test, force some errors and get Boston to start flip flopping on their goalies. But there's so much between here and a Boston goalie dilemma that it's even worth talking about at this point.

Leafs have to basically win this series vs Boston, despite themselves.

Lool you stopped reading because you know what I said shows your take is hilariously biased

The reigning vezina winner who has the below stats in the playoffs as a bruin:

2021 - 2022 : 0 - 2 record with a .860 SV% and 4.16 GAA

2022 - 2023 - 3 - 3 record with a .896 SV% and 3.33 GA

He is unplayable for the bruins. If we get too swayman we have a sieve to play as their backup.

Swayman has a lot more potential and just played a cool game 1 but even his playoffs arent elite either

2021 - 2022: 3 - 2 record with a .911 SV% and 2.63 GA

2022 - 2023 - 0 - 1 record with .875 SV% and 3.34 GAA

Again the canes an incredibly challanged offensive team scored 21 goals in 7 games or good for 3 a game. The panthers the 5th best offensive team last year scored 24 in 7 good for 3.43

The leafs have no excuse to score less than the Canes. They should be pusjing ~3.5 goals this series. Poor boston defense, unproven and unreliable goalies and our offense has 3 100 pt guys pace wise.

Leafs losing will be a huge choke especially if its with our offense costing us and not samsonov/woll

Leafs play too slow, they try to game manage where as their strength is transition and speed through the middle. This can be explained by two reasons. They have to concentrate too much on protecting the defense and goaltending (that's how weak we are). Coaching probably insists on it . This team doesn't know how to play that kind of game and thusly never succeed at it.
Bottom line is we are too slow and our defense and goaltending are not only terrible compared to premier teams but we have had to alter the strength (forwards) of the team to this monstrosity.

I like Tavares because he never ever stops trying. However, we do need a captain who will act like Max Domi did at the opening faceoff and take responsibility for proactively setting the tone. John has to step out of character and initiate some crap.
Totally agree with you 💯

I always thought Rielly should have been Captain

Nylander back will be pretty big. At least I hope he plays.

I also hope Woll gets the game, and I'd also play Brodie over Benoit.

Benoit is at least mobile, take out Edmundson.

Also, all these pairs have good stats together

Rielly - Lub
McCabe - Liljegren
Brodie - Benoit

Someone figure out the AAV on the ice and on the bench for the first 4 goals.

At the end of the day, we have more AAV that sites on the bench than any other team. Its extra bad for PK.

Flawed design.

Go with 7 D and sit a forward. Edmundson has an important role to play. He didn't get to it in game 1 tho.

We need both Nylander and McMann back. Players like Bobby thrive in the playoffs, they bring a lot of energy and intensity. We Could use Bobby’s semi-skilled, simple, gritty crash and bang winger game against Lost-on.

He's had one good game... not sure he is one of our better D and I've liked our 4th line, so would be nice to keep them together (Dewar can sit and Knies can go 4LW when McMann and Nylander are back)

Doesn't need to sit... but I think Brodie is better than him
