With the added cap space at the moment, time to see what Robertson can do for a few games instead of Malgin.
Coming off a poor effort, this should lead to some lineup changes. Maglin has been very non-impacting so far so good chance to see if someone else can bring more to the table.

That being said, we are not regularly winning or losing based on how much Malgin impacts the game.

Would rather give Robertson a shot since we have the LTIR space. Malgin is good enough to play at this level, but not good enough to be a difference maker and he's almost 26, so he's basically a finished product. Robertson just turned 21, is arguably as good and will likely improve if given a chance.

I think everyone is of the same mind.

At this point I think you could even try the Robertson-Nylander-Malgin experiment, and it wouldn't be any worse than lines 1, 3, 4.

He is who we thought he was lol.
This guy wasn't in Switzerland cause he is good enough to play top 6 in the NHL.

Dubas gets caught again trying to outsmart the league

Yes, but being honest, he's almost as effective as Matthews has been.

Can he get better, I don't know, but realistically only 2nd. line has looked dangerous most games.

Look at Bunting, with everything good he does he undoes it with something dumb.

Matthews has looked slow and disinterested, not going to disagree with that at all. That 1st line needs a shakeup.

Bunting/Jarnkrok - Matthews - Nylander
Robertson - Tavares - Marner

Make it so...

I’m no Malgin fan, but his issue seems to be that he’s the next step down in talent from Alex Kerfoot and doesn’t fill a traditional middle six role. He’ll definitely receive more second hand flack for a guy like Auston Matthews not doing much for the first 4 games.

Leafs fans: We give up on players too soon.
Also Leafs fans: Let's give up on Malgin after 4 games when he has arguably outplayed our top line guys.

Tavares-Nylander played much better with him than without him thus far.

After last game, he has passed both Matthews and Nylander for ixG/60 at ES but was also passed up by Bunting, who had an insane game against ARI where he put up as much as he did in the other 3 games combined. So if he is a passenger, he is doing a pretty damn good job. He is also the top on the team in goals/60 at ES right now.

If anything, we should be looking to get him more ice time to see if he can keep up those numbers and turn it into more production.

When you watch game live at Scotia he looks like da little kid skating around who does not quite fit in .. anywho he does not move da needle for this team .. but from what I can see I don't see anyone on da ice moving da needle but Willy and here and there Mitch .. after that is it a big fat ZERO for me and that includes both Matty and JT .. we are getting caved at centre ice

Keefe needs to learn how to coach young players like Robertson. Malgin isn't even a band aid to our problem. This is an old team, Keefe can't coach young players into the NHL .

Keeping Malgin on the roster and Robertson off, just so Dubas can prove himself correct. Thats how petty Dubas has become.

Actually we literally couldn't have fit Robertson's cap hit even if we sent Malgin down, that's the worst part, that's how badly he's mismanaged the cap.

It's absolutely shocking that this is what the lineup has become. You couldn't wreck it any more if you tried.

Some folks are being a bit extreme in their criticisms but he certainly hasn't made a significant impact. Was fine in the first game, less so the subsequent ones. He also hasnt been the reason why the Leafs have dropped two games either

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an off the record promise made by the front office to the player/agent that he'd get a certain number of games in order to have gotten him to commit in the first place.

When Malgin is the big "addition" your fan base is talking about from the offseason you know there's something wrong.
