It's amazing. It's like 45 supporters. He can do no wrong ever. They'll make constant excuses, point to luck, expected wins, refs...... we're supposed to be thrilled that we gave TB a run for their money. Waster years with this rookie trio who are ok with losing as long as players "care deeply"
I find it interesting people who hate him for not having 'cap" now are changing it to hating him for having too much cap.

He did the same press conference as any GM has....I take it you're going by Brian Hayes' whining. How many interviews must he give?

I'm talking about the whole "I take the blame" spiel, not the amount of press conferences he's taken.

The new thing is "I'll bet my career on this core" , which granted he completely is doing.

Any more failure and he'll be back to the OHL faster than you can say Soo Greyhounds.

Do I need to know him personally to see that he comes of as an arrogant, I-have-the-spreadsheet-formula-for-winning rookie GM? Also just more evidence he has no clue how to build a playoff winner, Good times! People still defend this guy! Unreal
I think people feel the need to protect a guy when people are projecting as much as you are. He "comes off as arrogant" does he? Don't mistake confidence and intelligence with arrogance, and don't hate it or fear it so much.

What's wrong with believing in his core? How is that arrogant? You think Matthews isn't noticing how he treats his players?
Quite frankly, it's impressive how he hasn't done anything to damage this teams overall future. Look at the prospect pool and cap situation. He really believes in his team and it's set-up great for years to come.

It’s an unqualified attack then. You are literally making statements that you know nothing of, just because you don’t like someone. It may turn out he was an unsuccessful GM, but that doesn’t necessitate attributing characteristics to someone you personally know nothing of. Stick to the facts, not unqualified character assignations. Better yet, stop with the GM attacks in every thread. This is a thread about Malgin, not Dubas.
I'll post what I like thanks! Dubas signed Malgin. Should I put that in bold!??! I guess some want this forum to be a Dubas love-in or you're attacking, or ruining every thread. Put me on ignore and get off your high horse
Dubas never said that about Keefe. He said he think she can be mentioned among the guys thought of as top coaches now in 15 years.
And can I point out he stated that in regards to Trotz being mentioned? Do you know how many years it took Trotz to win a round? 12 years. Yes, 12 years.
Here we go with - do you know how long it took....... please! Enough! Don't give a flying f*** about Trotz.

Why do you keep asking me questions that have nothing to do with the post you're replying to?

Back to the original point, why isn't Dubas going up on the podium taking personal responsibility for the team's failures anymore? Haven't seen it after the Tampa loss, or the embarrassing Montreal and Columbus losses either...

Is it because he doesn't have a fall-guy anymore and the target's completely on his back now?

It's wonderful to see he's so confident with his playoff record. Look at what he inherited and then tell me you're ok with not having won a single round.

Oh please. He gets knocked for the comment then when I point out some truth to it you say it doesn't matter. He was specifically asked about Trotz when he made that statement.

How many people freaking out about Keefe not winning a round are aware it took Trotz 12 years?

So Keefe hasn't been out-coached in the playoffs? If you'r e in that corner then good day to you sir, nothing more to talk about.

Was he out-coached this year? They lost by a goal and had a goal taken away in game 7.
Go back and watch babs against Cassidy in those Boston series if you want to fire Keefe for a more "Experienced" coach. Matthews played 17 minutes in a game 7. Jesus. A lot of it was to line-match what Cassidy was doing. He controlled the series due to this Jake Gardiner was -9 in back-to-back game 7's and not once was his usage adjusted.

Any comment on how it took Trotz (Who i think is THE best NHL coach) 12 years to win a round?

I doubt that. More likely he would leave Toronto for another NHL job. He is unlikely to decide to go back to the OHL.

Anyone upset that a player who put up .30 ppg in the NHL over almost 200 games is signing for 750k and not guaranteed a roster spot just has no argument for it.

"not what we need", I am sure they were thrilled with the Clifford signing then.

I am sure he would get another NHL GM job quickly, I don't think the executives of NHL teams are as dumb as many on this board.

How is Trotz and his accomplishments have anything to do with Keefe whatsoever?! Who cares - Trotz is known as one of the better coaches NOW. Hey every team should just hang on to their rookie coach, because hey it took Trotz 12 years. Why fire anyone!?
Anyway, I'm out, this board as mentioned has turned into a Dubas can-do-no-wrong lovefest and anyone frustrated with losing, is deemed a hater and a troll.

He'll still get more interviews than Mark hunter.
Probably, It just seems strange that he would choose to go back to the OHL. It is a possibility, but has an low probably. If he leaves Toronto he will most like be a GM for another NHL team.

I agree. The guy was always liked a lot. Many teams expressed interest in interviewing him.

The quote was posted, it was dissected by you, and it was made in regards to a question about Trotz.

Not everyone. I am disappointed with the team not advancing farther. I have been called a Dubite.

Kyle decided, after only 4 games that Marchment was shit. After double the amount of games for Malgin, he's still unsure.
Marchment was given 4 years and 203 games in the organization. Malgin has had 8 games in the organization, and has had 2 years of further development since then.

Trading 25-year old AHLer Marchment is horrible, because he unexpectedly broke out another 2 years after that, but dismissing Malgin is okay because he wasn't amazing at 23?

The new viral argument just dropped: "It took Barry Trotz 12 years to win a playoff round." Notwithstanding that includes a struggling expansion team and not one drafted talent on the level of any of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner or even William Nylander.

By that metric, when we eventually see a playoff round win John Tavares will be retired, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner at their career geriatric stage and Keefe will be coaching some place else.

12 years....You won't be calling Seattle an expansion team in 2033 will you? And to point-out, they actually were having really good regular seasons during that time.

Its an OK signing I suppose, but its just more tinkering at the edges of the roster that won't amount to much. These players come and go. No big wup.

You argue exactly like dekes projecting fake arguments on your opponent in an attempt to get them off the heart of the subject.

Obviously the entire twelve years isn't the struggles of an expansion team. I don't think that and you don''t think I think that unless you're thick which you clearly are not.

You're just trying to obfuscate my point while ignoring the meat of the argument that 12 years is a long time to wait to win a single playoff series for a franchise gifted through good draft fortune with not 1, not 2 but 3 special young forwards.

Mod Edit : removed reference

As with dekes, I will stop engaging with you as you're clearly a disingenuous actor.
No one is stating it'll take Keefe 12 years, I am just simply point out how these top coaches were viewed. All Dubas said was in 15 years from now people will view him differently.
