You out Nylander with Matthews which is the way it should always be, and you build a 2nd line with 27.5 mil (with Bertuzzi money as well). Which should be a piece of piss to do, and then spend the extra 5mil on defence.

I think it's far enough along that there either needs to be a coach firing or a big change to our core/cap structure.

Sure we're a good regular season team in the sense we'll make the playoffs and possbily win a round but don't know how anyone at this point would think this group has legitimate championship upside.

Mackinnon is an absolute tank.

Firing the coach and/or changing the core doesn't solve the main issue which is the defense. The Leafs need to be patient, avoid expending assets at the deadline and retool in the summer. I would strongly consider moving out Bertuzzi, Brodie, and Domi at the deadline if the team can't come to an extension agreement. This year clearly isn't it...

Tavares has 1 even strength goal in his last 15 games (with 2 PP goals) .. and only 2 assists in his last 13, no points in his last 3 games.

I knew these last couple years of his deals could be rough. Had a great start to the season but we need more right now.

He didn't move Nylander up , he moved Knies down, Knies easily had his worse game of his pro career. Looking for your stick while the other team has possession in your zone and they score will usually get your ass stapled to the bench he's lucky he only got demoted.

Sounds like Brodie is going through some things in life but on the ice he looks like he's at the end of the road. Physically broken down and the mental game is not there.

People need to take a look at teams like Vegas,Colorado,Carolina (they have piss poor goaltending right now) and see how far off we are from winning a championship. These teams come at you wave after wave and can actually suffocate you and shut you down.

100% agreed. But let's also be fair, if we would get a minimum of 3 PPs every game (don't even need 5 or 6 of whatever that you see other teams get), we would have a f*** load more points, less OT games and more regulation wins.
