Even then, Christ knows what his asking price will be or if we'll have enough cap space to do it.

I'd trade Matthews + 2 1sts for McDavid.

If McDavid ever got out of Edmonton it would probably mean Edmonton is admitting defeat and they completely rebuild for picks/prospects. A Matthews-McDavid swap wouldn't help them. They need an entire roster not new stars. Between McDavid and Drai they could probably get 10+ 1st round picks and rebuild properly. So for McDavid only we would need to get a 3rd team involved. Example Matthews to Minnesota, McDavid to Toronto and 6 1st round picks a couple seconds and prospects to Edmonton most of it coming from the wild. 4 of the 1sts from Min and 2 from T.o.

Tavares 11M hit will be off the payroll by then. Add 1 or 2 other moves along with reasonable extensions for the big three and McDavid can finally play hockey with a smile on his face.

Robertson-McDavid-Marner
Amirov-Matthews-Nylander

Kerfoot has been better than Kadri this year, don't @ me.
Lol no he hasn't, not sure where this narrative is coming from though I suspect zeke has been driving it. Kadri's underlying numbers this year are great (the one thing Kerfoot had going for him), against harder comp. Up to 6 pts in 8 games now as well.

LOL

I know McDavid would never say it but he HAS to be kinda miserable inside playing in Edmonton.

Can he play defense instead cause thats where we need help on is the blueline.

If this is a competition for the 4th line Barabanov's probably our least impactful player. Spezza provides offense and wins draws. Boyd's been awesome. Engvall works his but off and has size and speed. Anderson showed some promise but could use some work. Heck even Brooks scored the lucky PP goal.
Still waiting to see something from the guy, trying to be objective but not a lot so far...

I dunno....watching the games and he doesnt stand out like mcdavid does. Maybe he doesnt dominate like he does against other teams. Matthews hasnt been normal self against oilers yet either.
Hard for Matthews to get a flow going when a third of the game was on the pk. He looked alright and potted one when he got a chance. I'm not worried about stachewes at all.

Oilers are just a sad team. They need to move from Nurse, RNH and others. If McDavid don't want to be there through total rebuild they should move him too.

They can maybe squaze into playoffs so odd year, but that team is worse than Buffalo.

5 hours after the game and I'm still shaking my head. How can the refs be soooooo bad? The only thing I can come up with is that during this crazy time of Covid, the tightness against the cap for many teams, and the limited number of players on 'squads' throughout the league, ownership/management/head office has instructed the officials to crack down with penalties at every turn for fear of letting things get out of hand as the games against the same opponents build up. By keeping the natural flow of the game disrupted, they're intentionally reducing the normal animosity that develops when teams play each other night after night under normal circumstances. By interrupting the intensity of the game with penalties they're hoping to keep 'all hands on deck' by the time the playoffs role around. I can't come up with another reason for what we're seeing, it's that bad. Of course, this hypothesis is based only on watching the Leafs. To those watching other teams on a regular basis, are those games as badly officiated as what we see on a regular basis?

I don't like Kerfoot
He caused 3 goals
Penalties and defensive play
Trade him at the deadline

Nylander wwwaaayyy more noticeable tonight. Simmonds and Bogo have been great adds, really fill out some needs and solid in their roles. Kerfoot I’m just not feeling at all, he’s meh in every department. Andy doing what needed to be done at the crucial moment.

We deserved this win. The first period we looked like we were on a power play, then apparently the refs agreed.

Two more points.

The only downside to playing Edmonton so many times, I was hoping to not see too much of Barrie again.

It was funny seeing Barrie do his thing: lose puck battles on the PP/soft defensive play in general.
