I think it came down to Thornton or Perry. Seeing how they are playing Thornton (not as a Center) you would have thought that Perry was the smarter choice. Especially the edge he brings that Thornton does not.

But dont get me wrong, I know Thornton is hurt right now. But I like what hes brought to this team as well.
I think our RW spots are a little more firm than LW as well. It's easier to play Thornton, especially when he's a C option who can play LW on all 4 lines.

With Perry you're basically locked into a bottom 6 Rw option fighting with Simmonds, Spezza and some others

Make it the 2nd round to add a bit more spice to it. Been waiting a long time to see the Habs and Leafs in the playoffs and if it isn't this year it may never happen lol
My concern is we may be getting a false sense of security, beating comparatively weak teams in the North division, while there are much tougher squads in the rest of the league. We'll see when the playoffs roll around.

Calgary isn’t weak, Winnipeg’s D isn’t good but they aren’t weak, Vancouver is under performing but aren’t weak, Montreal is over performing but isn’t weak. Every team but Ottawa and Edmonton is a playoff caliber team in this division. It lacks a powerhouse team, but there are few in the league anyway.
