It’s no surprise Burke would be insensitive to the refs doing their job. That’s what they were doing after all. Ahhh ishhh good nuff they were patting themselves on the back after in the refs locker room ( janitors room) mopped up on the leafs tonight they laughed. Complete incompetence. Watched another habs game last night too. They are still cross checking anything that moves in their crease with no calls. Tkachuk got in to it with Chariot in the crease and i was wishing Tkachuk beat the face on of him. Complete dirtbag. Simmonds in hindsight should have hit him when he was down.
The level of reffing has reached a all time low right now. Putrid, gross, bias, incompotent, ignorant. You name it, its a poorest reflection on the game right now. We wait all this time for hockey to watch these clowns ruin it every game. Consistently garbage in all games I’m watching. Obviously this is a league driven decision.
Been saying it for long. I know people hate hearing whining about refs but there is clear agenda driven from top to effectively run game-management. Watch any game, any team. It's the same crap. But for Leafs it's absolutely laughable. Hearing the excuse "oh they don't hustle or move to draw calls". Pile of BS.

It's to create fake parity among teams. You officiate one way all regular season.

Then f***ing playoffs come and you throw the rulebook out. Wtf?

Wasn’t Hyman’s penalty on McDavid last night the second time he took a penalty to put us 2 men down?

Maybe so, but I don't know many players that would be able to stop McDavid coming in through the neutral zone at full speed. Bad penalty of course, but it's McDavid, this guy is insanely fast with the puck, he's going to draw those penalties even against the leagues premier shut down players.

I would rather rotate Spezza than Robertson, but I guess I should wait to see how he looks post recovery. He really needs his skating to be effective.
I just think Spezza's faceoff ability is so crucial, and He is just so smart still. I honestly think he sees the game better at this age. Hard to believe. But he is still a very highly effective player down the lineup. My guess is Robertson will be a plug and play option on any line going down the stretch. If someone looks off, or injured just hot swap him in the lineup and adjust accordingly

I really don’t feel bad for the oilers that they are missing their best defenseman. I hope we blown them out Tomorrow. I hope they keep losing, one less team to worry about.
Truth being, they don’t actually have an
best defenseman.

You guys look good. It’s going to continue be both of us at the top of the division.

Could you imagine a Habs vs Leafs playoff series? The country would shut down for 2 weeks.
Make it the 2nd round to add a bit more spice to it. Been waiting a long time to see the Habs and Leafs in the playoffs and if it isn't this year it may never happen lol

It’s game fixing look right now. Is that acceptable to anyone. Thats a slap in the face for our sport. This isn’t whining. This is a serious set of circumstances we are watching in every game. These clowns calling games are sympothizers to this. Really. They are pretty gutless. Nothing I didn’t already know. Media is controlled. They are gutless to call it out. Sad but true

after the kerf call, and before the hyman call to go down 2 men. I am pretty sure Marner was carrying the puck over their blue line, and 2-3 oilers whacked his stick in a far more aggressive fashion. Under normal circumstances it was not even close to a penalty. But an absolute golden opportunity to "even it up" they chose not to. Fast forward 20 seconds, and then they call Hyman for tripping (right call) and put us down 2 men. Its very clear to me that the narrative that the leafs not moving their legs, not drawing penalties is a total crock of shit TBH. Refs are scared to put the leafs on the man advantage because they have a DEADLY PP. And if the call was marginal that put them on the PP, it could be the difference maker in the game. But if that's the case, let them play on both sides IMO

The game was closer then it should have been. Refs took over the game and allowed the Oilers to make a presence last night.

Im really liking the work ethic of this Leafs team. Keefe has them gelling and should bode well for the team moving forward. Other then Montreal who is off to a great start, Im not worried of any of the other teams in our division. We should be able to distance ourselves from Montreal in a couple of weeks when we start playing them.

I've been asking for refs to call the game fair for years. It's just one way based on how game is going.

Call things fairly for both teams so at the end of game no one is left wondering who refs sided with.

If you call ticky-tacky shit for Leafs, do it consistently against other teams too but there is zero consistency.

So the Leafs get penalized for being good... Makes sense.

Tkachuk is the only player with any heart on Calgary if you ask me. Furthermore the Campbell thing is overblown. Brodie was all over him and he put a hand on Campbell first before he landed on him. Now the Muzzy puck flip causing him to melt down was hilarious. Biggest laugh i got from a game in ages.
If Calgary fans don’t want Tkachuk I’ll agree with sending him to the Leafs :). I think Marner knows how to play with him a bit ha

Honestly, I was not convinced of the hype preseason, but they look good. I really hope they cool off, cuz they look scary good right now. They needed everything that they hoped would go well to go well to be successful. At this point, they've got that and more IMO

They definitely have. All 3 acquisitions to the forward group (Anderson, Toffoli, Perry) are really contributing and have added a dimension to this Montreal team that they sorely missed. In hindsight, the Leafs really missed the boat with Perry. He wanted to be a Leaf and instead we signed a player like Vesey. Although Vesey has played alright, I would have rather had Perry.

Ya I think I'd have to agree with you on the Perry>Vesey. But I am not sure if that was how things shook out. I think it may have been Perry or Simmonds. I could be mistaken on that. Nonetheless I would much much rather Simmonds over Perry at this point in their careers. And truthfully, Perry Vs. Vesey should not be the difference between cup vs no cup. Perry has played 2 games, and has looked ok so far. Marginally better than Vesey has looked for us

I think it came down to Thornton or Perry. Seeing how they are playing Thornton (not as a Center) you would have thought that Perry was the smarter choice. Especially the edge he brings that Thornton does not.

But dont get me wrong, I know Thornton is hurt right now. But I like what hes brought to this team as well.

It was bloody well embarrassing for da league to have that occur in a pro game ... it was blatant ... Leafs were crushing Oilers and then refs decided we better help out these Oilers here ... i mean it is hard to watch men beat up on boys so I do get da human instinct of it but let's just call game early and go 'no mas' before we resort to that level ... I feel bad for Oilers too ... no one wants them to be this bad but fact is there are ... not sure who will win between Oilers and Sens yet

I think Thornton's locker room looseness is so invaluable. This team needs to get back to having fun. They actually look that way this year. I wouldn't be surprised if its a guy like Jumbo that is doing that for them, even if he is hurt

Team was really good yesterday.

Really took away anything the oilers had early.

Halfway through the game, McDavid was getting smothered by Holl and his team was going nowhere.

Once the game descended into officiating madness, its just chaos to analyze so I'm just happy Toronto ended up on the right side of the craziness.

Just bring the same game tomorrow and the Leafs will take it and just hope we don't get some crazy repeat last nights mess.

I think a lot of this year has been about management realizing their past errors and addressing them head on. We got a goalie capable of 1B the other year, something we desperately needed. And he just so happens to seem like a great teammate. But the main thing this offseason was bringing in guys like Thornton, Simmonds, Bogosian, Brodie. Completely changes the look of our team (and bringing back Spezza of course. Even adding a big body in Vesey to plug in up and down the lineup. We added a lot more heart and grit to the room. Our defence is night and day different with Brodie over Barrie, Bogosian over Ceci, and Holl stepping up to be a real important guy back there. I'm excited for this group, it feels like they're a little different to me this year
