This is the crux of the matter. We need guys like those 3 to play well to keep relevant and maybe get the serious attention of as many gm's as possible. On the other hand, the better they play and put up points the more likely we accrue points which will hurt us come game 82 standings.
This is WHY its tantamount that we trade them asap. Stop fooling around here. Even if we get just a littttttle less.

Honestly outside of the 1st period I thought our d and forwards did a good job of keeping Toronto to the outside, they had a lot of shots but our D were strong in front and took away good scoring chances.

18 points in 13 now for Zucc. Showing he still has it even if he is playing on one of the hottest lines in hockey. Gorton has some pressure on him to get a first.

They gave up almost 60 shots...

I mean I guess the over arching point that you're making is true, but these types of wins annoy the **** out of me.
I know, I get the 60 shots. But the reality is 23 of then came on four PPs. How often would you expect to see 23 shots on four PPs? Even with our crappy PK, that screams statistical anomaly to me. I don't know if I've ever seen a team with 23 shots in eight minutes of PP. Regardless, it's a moot point. I know what you're saying, I just view it differently. Probably from growing up watching Italian football, where they used to intentionally play in a shell and would generate like 3 shot attempts per game. And this is when they were World Cup champion-caliber.

I'm guessing you mean they annoy you in the context of the standings and draft implications, which obviously I can understand. A couple weeks ago I kind of resigned myself to the fact that we were gonna be a team like this, and figured I'd just roll with it. I'll root for them like normal and let the chips fall as they may.

Can't disagree with you there just feel that Gorton doesn't feel like we do. It doesn't look like the Zibby line is showing any signs of slowing down and that means more production for zucc.

Toronto created half of their high danger chances for the game during the 2nd.

This is true of the 3rd outside of the last 5 minutes or so.

Expect the unexpected from this group.

Looking forward,
Tuesday - we'll blow a lead, and lose in OT to Winnipeg...
lose to Buffalo. Here comes the fall, yah?
Nope, we'll beat Pittsburgh on the road...
and then avenge the Carolina loss...
but then lose to Minnesota and Jersey.

Sound right?

With regards to trades, Hayes will get us some good assets, Zuc I'm unsure what his perceived value is. I'm of the opinion if its a 2nd and a mediocre prospect I'll keep Zuc.
I'm with you in a "normal" season I would cut my nose to spite my face and keep zucc if thats the return but right now Keeping him and Hayes is gonna keep us far from a top 5 pick.

Was ADA benched after the giveaway? Missed the first half of the game
I'm not sure how much he played afterwards but he definitely played. He took a tripping penalty later on. And he played after that, as well. Again, not sure how much.

I think if we dump Hayes, McQuaid, and another roster player or two we wont have to worry. Outside of Andersson(and I'd prefer they left him there), there isnt much skill in Hartford.

Glad tho there is some reality vs what we experienced in the dark ages of the early 2000's. Being 7 points back we would be looking to do whatever we could to make the playoffs lol. Has to tell me we are going in the right direction

You could be right the Zucc-Zibby-Kreider can't play at this level for another 27 games and carry this team...one would think.
