Well guess that is the play and there is no other option...
@ULF_55
It's OK. Another year of development at home... then pushing hard to take over the Marlies net in 2023-24. It might be a real positive thing to have the young goalies in the system see this guy coming up fast behind them.

Leclair I see. Roenick though? I recall him as a guy that gets in his spot waits for the puck then unleashed that canon shot of his.
Stylistically he reminded me of jagr, using that butt to keep the defense away from the puck. Imo he will need to get even stronger to do it against fulltime nhlers
i think thats what he became once he landed in phily the hawk version of roenick was 100point 100 penalty guy that had a nasty streak

Knies stylistically reminds me a lot of Matthews. Extremely unlikely he ever reaches Matthews’ level but having another power forward with great hands definitely won’t hurt!

I can see the comparison, but IMO he is more of a young Landeskog (who people forget before injuries was utterly dominant)
He uses his body really well to keep defenders away from him, has + hands and a good shot. What he doesnt have from Matthews is the speed (at least yet) or the edgework. Landy is Matthews without those things IMO.

As for Pano Fimis, id rather get him on an ELC and see how he can do with a better team and development time. People seem to be forgetting that a guy like this missed a whole year of hockey in the OHL because of covid, so he may be a bit delayed in his skating / strength. If he can improve those a bit, he has the hockey IQ and passing ability to be a really solid prospect. With how weak we are at real C prospeects, I'd go for the ELC.

It's absolutely pathetic of the Leafs that a team like the Sharks can figure out how to stream their entire development camp on Twitch and the Leafs do nothing. We've seen a few clips from reporters in the rink.

Get a tech savvy intern group to set up a few cameras and the views on Twitch or Youtube livestream would be pretty large. The same can be said for training camp. Seems like such a missed opportunity at ad revenue and more eyeballs (not that they are clamouring for it but still).
These are the same "big thinkers" who fail to see the benefits of putting every single Marlies game on Leafs Nation TV, instead forcing us to pray we can find a crappy stream on a certain Russian web site full of pop-ups and viruses

"uses his stick defensively to create chaos" What does that even mean?
I'd guess it means he actually stick checks, which you'd think every player would do but I guess maybe not

seems like the resounding response to most players getting picked by the leafs jays and raptors. all about the training department and sports science facilities.

that's a great situation to have

It's definitely nice to have, it's been mentioned a few times by some of our bargain free agents. If you're a guy choosing from a bunch of league minimum offers, stuff like the facilities and medical staff can be an advantage over other teams.

The cap limits our spending on player salaries but there's no reason we shouldn't be spending as much as possible in every other way to give ourselves every potential advantage. And to MLSE's credit, I think that's what we've been doing.

Every modern player is actively attempting stick lifts, pushes, hacks, etc. Matthews is a master at them but no one has ever described Matthews as creating chaos.

I just saw this but a lot of them are likely overwhelmed with information overload so sometimes even the basic things are forgotten likely but he was maybe the one that stood out hence the usage of the word chaos? Lol. Journalistic writing etc

Can moldenhauer play in the AHL of he were to sign a contract? Eliteprospects are pretty good at listing where players are playing for next season, but they have nothing on him. Does him being drafted into the OHL prevent him from playing in the AHL? If he didn't have a CHL team, would he then be allowed in the AHL? What are the transfer rules for American based players who don't go to college?

Yes since he wasn't drafted out of the CHL.

But he'll likely go to the NCAA regardless. I'm sure he's got plenty of offers.

I think one of the biggest separations of Matthews from Landy and other elites is his grab the puck slingshot from the hip that goalies can't figure out and all the kids are watching tape on trying to learn.

He wouldn't be physically ready for the AHL at this point. He would be within a couple years of course, so I hope he doesn't go the 4 year NCAA route.

Matthews does use his stick to create chaos tho.

"Moldenhauer will be returning to the Chicago Steel for his D+1 season. He’ll likely be used as a top line forward, get top PP time, and just get heavily used. Chicago will be losing a bunch of their best players to college — Adam Fantilli, Joe Miller, Jackson Blake, Sam Lipkin, Jack Harvey were their top five point producers and all are set to join their respective NCAA teams."
