Matthews opening goal was damn impressive .. how he was able to quickly pivot himself around and hammer that one timer nearly bar down was a vintage Matthews goal we have not seen in previous playoffs.

I'm hung over as hell but that was fun.

I thought TBL outplayed the Leafs quite a bit in the series, which is the opposite of last year... so who cares. TBL barely made any mistakes and had amazing puck retrieval in their zone. They were so much better than they were in the regular season. Every goal and every Leafs win outside of Game 2 had the Leafs really dig deep for them.

I thought defensively the Leafs did well in terms of shot blocking and removing 2nd chances, but they were terrible at exiting the zone and making plays to move the puck down the ice. They were stuck in their zone far too often. They need to fix this up and adjust if they want to be able to win another round.

Samsonov was a beast and fought a lot of shit infront of him to make saves. His performance last night was awesome. Rielly was a star. Matthews is just clutch and is super underrated defensively.

Leafs played a really hard physical game. McCabe in particular made some huge hits.

FWIW, moneypuck shows EDM and TOR as the teams most likely to win ATM. I'm 100% certain that their models are flawed but then again, all models are flawed and what they're showing isn't completely unreasonable either.

That said, series winning goal - John Tavares, 2nd in playoff points - Mitch Marner, Matthews scored in each of the elimination games.

You need both, but it's easier to acquire playoff muscle at the deadline then it is to draft high offense talent.

If we didn't have that skill I would say draft them.

I love that Tavares scored the OT winner, plus the hatty in game 2, I’ve always maintained that if he was available In the Montreal series then Toronto finds a way to win that series, losing him not only hurt because of the quality of player he is, but that created a much easier matchup for Montreal who could now focus solely on shutting down the Matthews line….. but the past is the past, happy for the captain and can’t wait for round 2

Liljegren/Gustafsson brought something much needed last night. The ability to skate the puck out of the zone. Made a huge difference. McCabe was stellar. Really wish this team could somehow have Muzzin but it is what it is.

Great win.
