Confirmed with Link: Leafs acquire Jake McCabe (@50%), Sam Lafferty, cond. 2024 and 2025 5th round picks for Joey Anderson, Pavel Gogolev, 2025 1st (top 10 prot), 2026 2nd

DAMMIT DUBAS .. I have so much to do at work and now you're making it impossible for me to get to it
Old saying in another language - work is not a bunny rabbit that's running away and hiding, it'll still be there later.

Dubas is killing it.
Indeed he is. Everyone that's been mocking Dubas, calling him names etc. will hopefully give it a rest.

I knew they would do something else, I was expecting another bottom 6 forward and another depth Dman but McCabe, FML this is amazing. Probably the best trade Dubas has made so far!

When Murray comes off LTIR and Woll returns to the Marlies, the Leafs will have enough cap space to sign Knies and have a 24 man roster: 14 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goalies. The 23 man roster limit does not apply after the trade deadline, but the cap limit stays in effect until the start of the playoffs.

Knies is an interesting talent but its a HUGE jump from the NCAA and the NHL and its an even bigger jump from the NCAA to the Leafs (media and fan pressure) ... I hope Leaf fans are tempering their expectations with Knies.

If they don’t win now, it’s proof the core of this team is flawed and he has always been reluctant to deal from it. I guess on the other hand if they lose he will be given the chance to shake the core up. I’m just glad he went all in and not half assed
I have to agree. Hard to argue against this roster right now. Dubas has given them the supporting cast that most fans dreamed of. They are tougher to play against, have some sandpaper and some pushback.

I put it all on the core now to perform as the supporting cast does their job.

Awesome! The retention is particularly fantastic to get him at just 2 million is fantastic. Leafs have now added 3 impact players, with Knies still to join the team in a few weeks.

Likely means 1 of Kerfoot, Holl or Engvall will near certainly be traded by Friday.

I will say, I do hope Joey Anderson manages to find his niche in Chicago. Never quite worked out here but I always liked him as a player

I couldn't agree more.

First of all, this is no rental, this is a quality player, and with retention to boot, giving up a 1st is no problem. If the players can't get it done now I don't know how anyone with a functioning brain can blame it on Dubas, he's done his job, now it's on the players to do theirs.

Reminds me of the Muzzin trade. Really hope we're not sitting here 3 years from now with 3 more 1st round exist and people saying this was a dumb move on Dubas' part because he have nothing to show for it.

Just hope Matthews gets going, and our goaltending holdsIf the up. GLG!!

Some fans understand this; some do not. I think that the Leafs want Knies on the roster even if he is a Black Ace because of the experience that he will gain. As an FYI, Jake Muzzin was a Black Ace on the Kings when they won the Cup and he learned a lot about what it takes.
