Confirmed with Link: Leafs acquire Jake McCabe (@50%), Sam Lafferty, cond. 2024 and 2025 5th round picks for Joey Anderson, Pavel Gogolev, 2025 1st (top 10 prot), 2026 2nd

Nice trade guys, jealous you got McCabe at 50%. Here's hoping we meet in the ECF!

I'm so glad we're all in. Terrific trade. After having so much of our cap on our core, Dubas' challenge has been surrounding them with the proper players. I believe he's done that now. That 4th line of Acciari, Lafferty, and ZAR are going to be exciting to watch. McCabe on defence is the missing link, that tough dman that can clear the front of the net and is tough to play against, in other words, Muzzin's replacement, only younger and healthier.

Like has been said, Dubas has done his job. If we can't win with this lineup, then it's on Keefe, not Dubas.

Two almost useless assets will need a huge plus to get a retained Garland.
Except that Dhaliwal in Vancouver had mentioned Garland as a potential buyout candidate just last month.

Might want to acquaint yourself with the league happenings going on.

(No to Schenn).

I think Kerfoot + a prospect like Hirvonen gets a Garland retained deal done. They could retain 50% on Kerfoot and flip him for a better pick and a decent prospect for a guy they might have been considering buying out.

He only would need to have $1.9 out of his $4.9 AAV retained to keep the dram of resigning ROR alive, and the Leafs are certainly saving them actual cash while acquiring themselves a younger Bunting replacement.

I see a fit there.

I don't think he'll be unemployed. It will be like JFJ. He'll get other jobs in NHL front offices. But never an NHL gm again.

He was gifted teenage Matthews, Nylander, and Marner and (if we lose again this year) was unable to win even ONE playoff series in six tries. If we lose again, he will go down in history as one of the worst gm's in the leafs very long history. Leaf fans will agree. Remember, on a poll here 80% of leaf fans thought Burke should get a contract extension a few weeks before he was fired. Now every leaf fan on the planet agrees his tenure was a dumpster fire. Same will happen with Dubas.
Yep. This place will do a complete 180 in the coming years if they lose again when it comes to Dubas.

Wasting a large chunk of MNM's primes. Pissing away futures for no results. Leaving the team hamstrung in the years to come. The vitriol will be intense. It'll be Burke on steroids.

Good luck. Jealous of your head coach
It's funny how different our teams are, not necessarily good or bad, but both missing pieces the other team has. Canes fans all feel we're missing a true superstar to take us over the top in the playoffs. You guys have the superstars but not the coaching/system/depth of the Canes.

Anyways, with the arms race in the East and the Canes not doing anything I'm losing hope in us winning it all this year, still happy with where we sit in the mid/long term, but if we can't get there this year I'm pulling for you guys to finally break through. Screw the Metro teams and Bruins. Never disliked the Bolts but tired of them too. So Leafs it is

Sky is falling brigade still out in full force. You must be fun.

How are they wasting their primes by making trades to be more competitive for this year's playoffs? This in fact is the exact opposite of what you're suggesting.

Who said the sky is falling? The Leafs are primed for a playoff run, and have a decent chance of winning at least a round. Doesn't take much foresight to see what will happen should they fail, however.

You figure it out, doesn't mean you have to deal Kerfoot, Engvall or Holl. 200K is easy to gain.
Not without waiving 2 current players. ZAR, sure, but which of Kerfoot, Engvall, Kampf, Jarnkrok, or Acciari do the Leafs have to waive with ZAR for the extra $200K required to become cap compliant?

There is definitely another trade coming.
