Glad it was Joey Anderson and not McMann
Garland would easily put up 60 points in our top 6.Isn't Garland basically just a more expensive Kerfoot?
You could trade Sandin but that kind of sucks moreYou figure it out, doesn't mean you have to deal Kerfoot, Engvall or Holl. 200K is easy to gain.
I don't think other teams view those two as useless players.
50% retention for 2 more yrs after this one. Thats huge.Maybe this was the best offer they were getting for these guys
Where is Kerry in yall lineup? Yall traded him for schenn no?Bunts AM MM
Knies ROR WN
Bobby M JT Cock
Laff Kampf Accarri
I know that won’t happen argh lol
Now that the Leafs have acquired McCabe and Lafferty, which two players would they put on waivers if and when Matt Murray comes back from LTIR?Leafs still have to clear capspace for Murray to return
You could trade Sandin but that kind of sucks more
What about the Columbus RHD Russian dude??Kerfoot + Holl + whatever for Garland retained + Schenn and we are good to go
Make it a perfect trade! Addition by subtraction. Please I am not sure I can handle this as well I might need medical attention
Agreed, if he's going down, he's going down swinging. And to be honest he's provided enough talent and depth. At this point, it's on the players to get the job done. If they lose. obviously Dubas will be at fault, as will every part of the team. But at this point I'd really point the finger at the players the most if the team fails. This is Dubas's all in year, and it can't really be any other way. If the leafs lose in the first round again he probably won't get a contract extension and that would likely be it for him as an NHL gm.
The positives is that while he gave up a ton of assets, they were for pieces that make the leafs considerably better for the upcoming playoffs. Playoff stalwart O'rielly and two "playoff style" depth players (albeit with no playoff experience.) Tampa hasn't done nearly as much yet, other than one of the most baffling trades I've ever freaking seen.
The negatives is what will happen if the leafs still lose in the first freaking round. Dubas will be fired and the new gm is taking over a team with pretty much NO picks for the foreseeable future and (lets face it... although many of you will surely deny it) a pretty lackluster prospect pool. Oh, and all the skilled cores contracts are up in a year or two.
And if the leafs lose again, Dubas is fired, and the media erupts in flat out hysterics... are all 3 of the young core really gonna want to stay and be a part of this? I think if the leafs lose in the first round things will go REALLY badly. Like, Harold Ballard years bad. This is probably the most important leaf playoff series since the 1967 finals vs Montreal.
Goal-a-game-evWe may have had better luck with him if his name was
Goal-o-lev
Start from the best players and work yourself down by position. When you get to the last 7 players, balance the requirement for toughness such as acciari. You will figure it out.I just don't get why people are so anxious to trade Kerfoot, Holl or Engvall. They're all very useful players, especially now that they're down in the lineup.
Please no more Liverpudlians , pleaseGarland would easily put up 60 points in our top 6.
Better !Goal-a-game-ev
Is there a Bedard-level prospect draft eligible for 2026 that we should be worried about?
Because on the unlikely chance Auston walks, maybe Willie too and we keep the 2025 pick because it's in the top 10 ... Be afraid.

In addition to the retention, we only have McCabe and his $4M salary for a quarter of a season so he's only costing us about $1M (in a non-retention scenario)Um... how does this work for cap exactly?
I don't think he'll be unemployed. It will be like JFJ. He'll get other jobs in NHL front offices. But never an NHL gm again.I bet Dubas doesn’t last a week unemployed. He’ll be the most sought after GM on the market.
Kerfoot will not be on the 2nd line.Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot* - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - O’Rielly - Jarnkrok*
Lafferty - Kampf - Acciari
Knies*
Rielly - McCabe
Giordano - Liljegren
Sandin - Brodie
Holl & Timmins
