Dzingel and Lilljegren will probably be sent down to the Marlies. Gives the Leafs another $900k or so off the cap to use in another trade.

We don't need to send Dzingel down, but I guess if we want to accrue cap, we could risk that he goes through. I doubt the Leafs really care if he gets claimed; he is a decent fill in 4th liner who can take some pressure off of Simmonds, but we have guys on the Marlies (i.e. Robertson and Anderson) who are probably better than him if we give them a chance. However, he gives us an experienced guy who can take a regular NHL shift and if he can regain his magic on a good team, then there is some good upside there.

It would open up some space to gain that pick by being an intermediary at the TDL. Would help us get our 4th round pick back this year.

Oh no ……..

This means Liljegren sits out for a bit until the Leafs figure out the next step in the roster cap process.

I imagine Dermotts on the bubble here. Maybe Engvall as well.
I think Mikheyev is next , not engvall fits good 4th line .
Not a good left winger

Arizona gets to use the 2023 3rd and then if the development of their prospect goes badly they can choose to give that prospect to us and take the 2025 2nd in 2 years instead :sarcasm:

Of course people like yourself are. If it’s a 2nd it’s 3 years out. Lmao. Ritchies failures are on himself more so than management and the cost was minimal.
If you said lyubuskin + Dzingel for a 3rd or far future 2nd 90% of the people here would happily take it, ditching Ritchie in the deal for almost 0 cost is a typical Dubas W
People like me……who do you think you are.
Richies failures are what many people thought they would be. It is Dubas’s job to know things like that.
Dubas was just cleaning up a bad move. As far as the new guys how about you wait until we see what he can actually do before piling on accolades to Dubas

Honestly thought the pick in 2025 was a typo when I first saw it. by then that picked could easily be recouped. It is a 2nd without feeling like a 2nd.

Yep. Thankfully Keefe is a smart guy, and realistically I think we could trade him and recoup the assets we lost for getting rid of the extra year of Ritchie.
We'll see if it works out. Media's viewpoint of needed physicality blew up in their face last year. Maybe it works this time.
Keefe might be a smart guy, but his defense pairings stubborness has been very questionable.
Liljegren is probably going down now undeserved because of the cap. If he's going down until the deadline, thats a pretty bad way to handle a young d man.

Dzingel comes off of playing for two historically bad teams in the last couple years .. He's no star but he plays the tenacious style of game the Leafs want with their stars(at least when he was effective).

Prior to playing with Arizona and Ottawa, he signed in Carolina. For whatever reason he didn't mesh there but still put up nearly a 0.5 pPG pace. His goals were down in that first season but his shooting percentage nearly half of what his career was.

Before he signed in Carolina he was dealt by Ottawa at the dealdine to Columbus for a playoff run.

His career went sideways after that Carolina stint but he then played on two really bad teams.

All this to say is that while he has some work to do to rebuild his game, there's some potential value here which isn't a bad thing for basically a throw in piece to a trade. IMO it's more of a money thing for the Coyotes.

I don’t know Lyub really, but I like what I’ve heard about him around here.
And the team’s been targeting a guy like him since the off-season.
I’ll be curious to see him against the reports of him here. His profile seems a nice complement to Rasmus, for example.

The leafs should go after
JARED McCANN

What would be the price to get him ?
Mikheyev would have to be traded for a pick

Apparently Ritchie was loafing it on the Marlies last night .. Can't imagine how he'll react after being traded to Arizona and having to play this year and next there.

Man he wasted a big opportunity here. Kinda impressed Dubas showed him the door so quickly after not performing, considering he was a hometown boy and all.

This is why I like Dubas. Even if he makes a trade or signing that doesn't work out the way he hoped, he's able to usually fix things and not have a bad contract on the team taking up cap space. How many GMs have the Leafs had that can do this time and again?

Lets hope this Bush guy is decent. Its certainly better than giving up much more for a Chairot.
