For anyone thinking Carlo is physical, he is very soft for his size. Although he’s solid defensively, great on the PK and clearing the front of the net.

Will be a solid partner for Reilly, if not the best he’s ever had

He confirmed Fraser was gone. Didn’t say Anyhting else.

Carlo filled an actual need for multiple years at 3.5. For 3 years.

I think it’ll be different this season for 2 reasons

A) Secondary scoring beyond the core 4. Knies, McMann, Domi, Robertson and Laughton are all capable of providing some offense in a bottom 6 or top 6 role.

B) Teams would shell against Toronto in the playoffs to neutralize their offense knowing that their weak D and G would eventually break. This team is much better in both of those areas now so teams can’t game plan to out defense us.

I hope you and the majority are correct about the core being up to it. Most still seem to believe they’re a special group.

I’m the type that needs to see some evidence of growth first.

I'm pretty happy with this. They needed to make a move, and bringing in a depth D man is just treading water. Carlo is a legit top 4 guy and has term. And the retention gets him down to a nice aav relative to his on ice impact

I like Minten, but I don't think he was an irreplaceable prospect..Cowan was worth keeping over him

And Bennett gives you 45-50 points. So a 20 goal, 50 point guy.

Domi is a 10 goal 50 point guy. So you're trading 10 assists for 10 goals. And Domi and Bennett both have the same career highs in goals (though Domi's only season over 20 is probably a fluke).
