Our entire D Core is locked up for at LEAST the next 2 years. Very solid. Now add some serious forwards in the off season.

That florida team is going to annihilate the east again, focus on next year.

Why?

Bruins fans say Carlo hasn't looked good, have you heard about Seth Jones? Nobody was sad he was shipped out

Marchand is old and slowing down, he's nasty but just a rental

Tkachuk is gonna be limping into the playoffs

Florida super overrated.

Dallas is the real deal. Best depth i've seen on a team in the past decade

Exactly, be negative when it's time.
Like I do every year, if you don't have hope, what's the point. To me, this is the best team we've had, particularly with Stolarz, so let's see what they do. It still comes down to this core delivering.
Exactly why I have so very little faith in this team, groundhog day every spring………

This Tampa team is playing much better than the Tampa teams that have lost to the Leafs this year. Your making a huge assumption if you think they will only have to play one of them. They are in tough the next few games and could find themselves in 3rd by the end of next week.
@Evilhomer jinxing the team early this year, the optimism is infectious…….

Bruins fans are pretty sour on their entire team. They're going to miss the playoffs, pretty normal to feel your players suck. If they're saying that Carlo isn't a top 4 dman, then they're being unrealistic.

As for Minten, he's got 6 goals and 7 assists in 26 games with the Marlies. In addition, he has a -10 with a good Marlie team. If you're waiting from him to turn into anything more than a 3C you'll be waiting a long time.
I think most Bruins fans are realistic about how well or poorly their players are doing just as Leafs fans are and they're saying that old Carlo is good and current Carlo not so much. Again lets just hope we get old Carlo otherwise we got screwed on top of giving a 1st to them.

Yeah, it says a lot about ME that there's a collection of posters around here that declare the season over after every loss and whine about every move the team makes or doesn't make...
But that’s different than what you said. You said people would rather be right than see the team succeed. Why would someone would think that way? Probably because that’s how they feel.

Leafs also believed that guys like Mason Marchment and Trevor Moore didn't have much more offensive upside than what they showed in their few games with the team and it turned out that they did have more to give when they were given larger roles
Toronto doesn't have time to let those players develop though. If we're constantly just spinning our tires to develop players for 5 years down the road that's no good either.

Obviously the play is to trade the "maybes" for current talent to help us win in the next few years.

I am telling you Matthews, Marner, JT and Nylander dont have bite.

Compare the top six of Florida and it's a laughable comparison.

They were well behind the Leafs a few years ago. They traded for Matthews Tkachuk and now they have Bennett, Reinhart, Barkov, Marchand.

If they meet it would be a battle between Leafs tough D vs Floridas forward bite. We cannot expect our core to show up now all of a sudden, can we?
Barkov and Reinhart don't have bite and same thing with Verhaeghe. They're good but not exactly gritty. The three guys are Tkachuk (who's hurt), Bennett and Marchand, but he's old now and never drops the gloves, he really shouldn't be someone anyone is afraid of.

The last time we played FLA in the playoffs we didn't have Knies (got hurt and was 19), Tanev, McMann, Domi, Laughton, Carlo, OEL. I think we'll be ok.

Btw, Florida's core is older than ours. Barkov, Bennett, Verhaeghe, Reinhart vs Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly.

I’m sure our management have done their due diligence and I tend to agree that their lack of overall success this year not only clouds opinions of fans but also those struggles could be contributing to any Carlo struggles that might be valid

I'm fine with getting a player like Carlo if he's at his best, but that's the thing when it seems like he hasn't been at his best for a while. Maybe he'll be good again with a change of scenery, but I'm not exactly feeling reassured and full of optimism when few Bruins fans are sad to see him go and were hoping Sweeney would trade him than keep him.

Carlo is kind of dman who need a more offensive minded dman with him. He played a lot by exemple with Krug and been fantastic together.

Rielly need a guy able to clear the front of the net and be the shutdown guy in the other side.

OEl moving down on 3rd pair and could move up in case of an injury.

Leafs never been even close to have that quality of d and leafs got it right now.

Yes and no. Our lineup wouldve looked a lot worse today if we had traded Knies and/or McMann.

If Minten only had the value of a 2nd, we should've traded a 2nd instead. Minten might've been an important bottom 6 contributer to the Leafs within the next 2 years.

This Tampa team isn't playing much better. They have had a nice run in their last 10 games because they have played mostly terrible teams (Columbus, Buffalo, Detroit, Seattle, Montreal, Ottawa twice...). Before that stretch, they weren't much more than a .500ish team.

I understand the Leafs are in the 'win now' mode, I just don't think we need to give up what little decent prospects we have left especially when this core hasn't shown that going 'all in' would work when Dubas did it a couple of years ago and all it got us was an extra round of playoff games.
