What kind of RD would a 1st (top 3 protected for 1 year) Kapanen and Dermott get you?

*edit* RD would have to be 24 or younger.

should get you either a top pair rental or a decent top 4 vet from a soon to be rebuilding team

If Bracco is a right wing I would trade Andersson for him but otherwise think he stays in Calgary. Looms like he's a real player for sure

He plays C and RW

Dont even knw who Andersson is tho, info?

edit: nvm i do know him. lets do it.

Sounds like a deal. What's he playing mostly this year? He's racking up the points

RW I believe but I don't watch Kitchener aside from highlights, hard to get OHL hockey in different cities. He looked very improved at camp, one of our best players this year.

Tanev isn't available for what you have listed. Gudbranson, on the other hand, could be had for something like Kapenen, Dermott/Nielsen, and a cap dump not named Lupul/Horton.

LOL, Gudbranson won't fetch that.

The charade is up, besides his draft position he is not that good. Maybe an alright #4D

Take JVR off the list. Babcock and Lou love him. He is a legit top line LW, that is mentoring all the kids in Toronto. He is unavailable.

What would a JVR for McKeown deal look like, if it would be possible at all? Canes would obviously have to add substantially, but JVR would be an incredibly useful player for us. 1st or 2nd plus a roster player? Lindholm, maybe?

Leafs aren't ready to contend by far so unless you're getting one for table scraps it doesn't make sense.

Last trade of suggested magnitude equaled Hall for Larsson.

I'm gunna be pretty broad and translate that to Nylander for Trouba. Forget that Winnipeg doesn't need to trade a D for another skilled forward, that is the going rate ATM.

Worst time to buy D men. They are in high demand. It's like paying Lexus price for a Toyota

Oh so you can't get a top D prospect for a guy like JVR (17 points in 17 games) and a 2nd tier prospect? LOL this only works in NHL 17 I guess (though I haven't played it). If you check a record, you could get a very good defense prospect for someone like Bozak from a team pushing for the cup.

Evander Kane, Kasdorf and Bogo for Myers, Lemieux, Armia and 1st. Yes these trades do happen when a team sends top pair D for top wing and some spare parts. JVR has better injury record and is also playing very good this season.

Though someone like Shattenkirk can be had for the prospect depth we have if St Louis thinks they can't sign him and I would rather go that way since we have tons of UFAs coming off our books next year.

Take the e from Myers and put it with Lemieux.

Personally, it makes the most sense to draft a defenseman(Foote?) With our top 10 pick this June, and keep the remaining assets.

Thus roling with a top 4 of
Rielly-zaitsev
Gards-draft pick.

Which should all be in their prime in 2-3 seasons when the leafs are rolling.

And Dermott and Nielsen are projecting for top 4 as well.

Makes too much sense IMO...

Montour is a guy Id like to go after. The Ducks just have so many D. And I don't think he would cost an arm and a leg to acquire.

Montour would still cost something good.

I'd think we have a better chance at getting Vatanen as not only can Montour replace him due to their similar style, They would save cap and Montour is exempt from the expansion draft. Ducks fans are pretty high on Montour and rightfully so. Obviously this would be a trade made after the playoff's but even than I'm not sure we would have the right deal to satisfy the Ducks need's.

Vatanen might be for trade after the season is over. If we trade Vatanen we want a top 6 forward who is signed for multiple years at a reasonable salary. Just don't see the right type of player from Maple Leafs.

Yeah I don't want to sound like I'm trying to run Vats out of town but out of our pieces with significant value I think he makes the most sense to move, leaving Montour and Theodore to fight for the vacant role.

I don't think we have a great fit with the Leafs though, after the big 3 (who are obviously not moving) I don't see a young forward who lines up with the Ducks needs.

I would put our 1st with 1 year of top 3 protection in play as well.

Could someone tell me what happens with a top three protected pick. If it becomes top three does the acquiring team get that teams first pick the following year regardless of placing or how does it work ?

What makes you say that? Montour's stock keeps going up.

Montour I think was the most mentioned name in a "best prospect by position that's not in the NHL" thread, he's starting to get a lot of recognition and maybe surpassing Larsson and Theodore now

Of the 3 of them, is there one that you're most willing to part with?

Using that deal as a template I'm sure TO could get a good dman for JVR if the added Reilly....

Honestly I think it makes the most sense to keep all three and move a roster Dman at some point between now and expansion. That allows us to protect 3 of our 4 core roster D and maintain our young depth.
