Habs are well coached but there's just not a lot of talent on that squad.
If everything was normal and they were playing in the real division they would still be well behind the Leafs in the WC race.
Let’s assume Kuch would have had his surgery after their first round exit and would be close to playing now keeping Tampa in that top 3 with the Bruins and Panthers.

Engvall has had 3 games as 3rd line C this year and the 3rd line has been pretty great in all 3 of them.

He is a good player, but he plays like a winger and he can't win a draw for his life.

Nothing against using him on the 3rd line, but it shouldn't be as a center. The Leafs keep trying him there and he does not look comfortable as a center.

The Leafs could try Galchenyuk at center for a few games and have Engvall on the 4th line with Spezza and Vesey. Gives us a pretty solid bottom 6.

Holl seemed off tonight. Poor defensive reads. Old school Justin Holl.

Anderson and Muzzin beef is fun to watch.

Too bad they couldn't have prevented that last one on Freddie.

#2 and #3 in scoring for Mitch and Matty. Matty running away with the goal lead. Too bad on the missed trick.

I think he plays and skates like a center, personally.

keefe has played vesey, mikheyev, barabanov, simmonds, hyman, spezza, and kerfoot with tavares and nylander, maybe boyd and engvall or petan got shifts in too, i dont remember

man just keep hyman with them and leave it alone for awhile...hes like a perfect linemate for tavares nylander...or even better put robertson on their LW, your tried everybody, try robertson
I like the idea of trying Robertson there, but Kerf has been doing real well with JT. Willie has to pick it up at this point.

Glad we won, and love the Leafs same as the next guy, probably couple of decades longer than some here, but I am still not convinced this team is physical enough to go far in POs.

Getting outhit so lopsidedly, game in game out, is not something to be complacent about imo, lets be real here.

And I don't buy the excuse it's cause we have the puck much longer than the opponents.
We've been outhot bvy Montreal almost 90-30 in last two games. Have we had the puck 3 times longer?! Maybe someone can prove me wrong with the possession stats! I'll reconsider my overreaction then.

Sorry for coming across negative, specially after a win against a hated rival, but once again I witnessed the same frustrating underlying issues as usual with this team.

I wante see my beloved Leafs finally go far in the POs, so I won't let get fooled just because we win games now. We should want our team to always improve if we really care.

Acquiring Simmond was a great step in the right direction, but for the life of me I don't understand why management doesn't inject a player or two that can show some pushback in games where shown our lack of physicality.

Anderson, Anderson... was have his way with our boys fcol! Should we just be happy about this?
I was so pissed seeing him on ice each time, cause I knew a hot was coming.

Anyways, that's was just my rant for tonight. Enjoy the win tonight boys and girls.
On to seeing what Bennett and Tkachuk have in store for our boys next :(

They could benefit from a banger or two. It's a fine line though. I think they do risk their talent getting worn down if a series goes too long and they don't have much response from role players.

I do know that Dubas has to be thinking of addressing this weakness. This is a unique year where depth and character players can be picked up. Leafs would be wise to do so if the opportunity to improve presents itself.

A physical, shut down 4th line would be my personal preference. A line that can answer back if other teams take too many liberties on Leaf stars. Or at least a winger or two who throws caution to the wind beyond just Simmonds

Yeah, that's why I don't get the CJ hate. Julien is trying to squeeze blood out of a stone to get offense. Their start is actually flattering them because Anderson and Toffoli aren't Matthews lol and they won't keep up that scoring so even when the rest of their team starts scoring a bit more, Anderson and Toffoli will be landing back to Earth very soon

Character win. I can get use to this. How sweet would it be to knock the Habs out of the playoff race during the last week of the season? So much salt for their poutine.

That Holl-Muzzin pairing is strange, look amazing one moment and are just standing around puck watching the next. I have my concerns about them against better teams.
Also Morgan Rielly.....man....dude is a veteran and still makes so many unnecessary pinches and stupid plays outside his own zone that cause nothing but trouble to his D partner.

Btw that Mikhayev-Engvall-Hyman line might be the most possession to least amount of goals ratio line I can think of.
Only saw the 1st period given I had to work but Hool was atrocious in that period. Hopefully he got better throughout the game. Been so good the whole season but he had mistake after mistake. Odd game off.

Sid is such a loser man, hes literally a wanna be "sports" gordan ramsay with 0% of the talent. Even his "rants" are staged and trash. Sid, Simmonds and rob parker are the 3 biggest losers in sports radio.
